Swati - Nooo no Turkish serials please. They are apparently very popular in Pakistan since many have been dubbed in Urdu. Their actors/resses are gorgeous though. I stopped watching American soaps in the late 90s (used to watch Passions and Days of our Lives). Unfortunately, I started watching Indian soaps in 2010 (although in low dosage).

😆 Umz - I think I'm not interested in the average Turkish show but this one is special. The central female character - Asi, is the type of female lead that we wish we have in Hindi shows - strong, independent, and yet vulnerable at the right moments and flawed in her own way. The show dwells on her inner world just as much as on the male lead - never do you feel one is being privileged over the other.

The male lead is a typical romantic show archetype - strong, silent, angsty and brooding. And yet there is a complexity and nuances to the character which totally eludes most Hindi shows that go down this path.

It's a beautiful show - the background music is so lovely, the cinematography is gorgeous throughout and the pace is good. I'd highly recommend - even if you never watch another Turkish show again 😆

Yay!!!!!! - I promise you will not be disappointed - you don't even have to watch the whole show - just watch clips of Asi and Demir's scenes - there's plenty of intensity there. I adore the background music - it is haunting and so romantic. Here are some clips

Too bad Turkish fangirls don't have the mad VM making skills of our pankhis - Indian-Pakistani-Bangladeshi pankhis, there's no competition! But here's a VM with their scenes (warning - this is basically a collection of Asi and Demir kissing - so NSFW!)

Hello!

I had a fabulous day after a lousy week at work, thanks to my colleagues.

This is what I learned today.

1) Women love watching horror movies, no matter how lousy they are. We get a masochistic pleasure in getting spooked.

2) Men don't like watching any movie except the action flicks. They won't watch a horror movie because they think horror movies are stupid. And you can't drag them to watch any Hindi movie, specially if there's an iota of romance in it. If you do manage to drag them, they are so thoroughly bored that they are perfect spoilt sports.

3) Kids are bloody expensive. Kids Zone is nothing but money gobbling machines. I mean who pays Rs 100 to bounce for 10 minutes? Or for a ride on one of those fancy toy cars for 10 minutes? Bloody cheaters!

4) I am a bong. I love my maach- bhaat. But I don't love sushi. No Sushi!

I watched two movies today. Darr at the mall early morning show right after we dragged ourselves out of the bed and then in the evening Highway. Don't waste your money on Darr at the mall. That's the stupidest movie ever that I had the misfortune of watching recently.

Though it did have some spooky moments and I watched half of the movie hiding behind my shawl. Or just playing games on my phone.

Highway was good. Better than Darr at the mall. Stockholm syndrome and Sexually abused children. Good movie. Try to catch it.

Swati: I liked the OST too. There's something haunting about the music. I watched that scene where Asi tried to flung herself into the river Asi so that Demir could satiate his thirst for revenge and end the anger that was eating him up inside. Loved that scene. Loved how he confessed that he didn't want her to die.

Ahem ji! I mean OMG! Just watched the second video. Asi and Demir are going to have a little girl. That last scene was so cute. Nothing beats a happily ever after.

Demir is a moochwala. Faint Thud Rabba Vey. He reminds me of a guy I know who is from Czechoslovakia.

Highway music is good but film seems overrated
