By the way, I don't know about the jhaanki or ban bandhna that Ashish was talking about,but the dance was exactly what I saw on my trip to Jodhpur ... the ghoomar dance, very graceful and lovely.
Even my hubby remarked that this is like your show, on a number of occasions on the trip ... including the maasa, kaakisa and thakur, bhanwar, kanwar nomenclatures ... and the worship of the thakur ... it happens to this day, regardless of the fact that the Rajput kings have lost their kingdoms. Saw it myself ... the Jodhpur king attended the festival. I now understand better why Paro and the rest of the gaonwallas will never go against the Thakur ... it's just not in their blood.
We have the " bandh bandhana " thing in our family. 😊 I dunno how it is in rajputs but for us , their is this particular picture of the family godess in silk with a scriputure on an old paper which is hung on a height by the boy's / girls's bua and then the groom is supposed to jump and touch it ...
Its also done post the wedding 😊 Lets see how they show on tv.
