Animation in Delhi is once again in the news with the launch of the AGAFA 2013 -
Annual Graphics and Animation Film Awards - an initiative of the Society for Animation
in Delhi(SAID) to promote excellence among the animators', graphic designers' and related artists' community in India.

SAID is a registered non-profit body of independent and voluntary animators, graphic artists and others in related arts, founded in February 2010 to encourage original and creative production of animation and graphic arts and to augment intellectual property creation by animators and graphics artists. SAID is committed to help develop

animation that inspires entertainment for all and takes cartoons beyond kids through works that express fresh voices, creativity and differing global perspectives, so that these creative works of art enlighten audiences while providing invaluable exposure for animation filmmakers, graphic designers and other related artists, in the local, regional, national and global arena.

Two components have been built into the entire AGAFA exercise. A 3-in-1 contest invites Graphic Design, Digital Painting and short Animation Films with a purpose, based on themes, and an Awards Nite that recognizes and rewards winners and excellence in these fields. The philosophy is to encourage designers and animation artists to create what is demanded. The best creative talent, which can make the maximum visual impact, wins attractive prizes in each category. An independent and experienced jury of creators and those concerned with visual arts has judged the entries. The jury comprises Suhasini Mulay(National Award-winning noted flim actress), Subodh Lal(Creative Guru, former executive president of Zee TV, and presently chairman of AKS Media), Suman Bajaj Kalra(renowned film-maker and former DDG, Doordarshan), Harsh Borah and Debjani Mukherjee(eminent Animators of international repute).

The awards are being announced and presented at an Awards nite during SAID's day-
long FESTIVAL OF ANIMATION IN DELHI - AGAFA 2013 - where the mother of Indian
animation, Vijaya Mulay, along with Bhimsain, creators of the 1974 hit short film Ek
Anek aur Ekta and Rajiv Chilaka, creator of Chhota Bheem will be felicitated. Besides,
Gurumantra 4, On-the-Spot Sketching Competition, Music, Dance, Food and other Stalls
will be the highlights of the day-long celebrations - Saturday, 14th Dilli Haat, Pitampura, Delhi...

The event is sponsored by Chhota Bheem through Green Gold Animation, Voice & Motion Communications and Work4Me.in. Other voluntary organizations of Animators and Visual Artists, both on-line and those in and around Delhi have also joined SAID's effort in this event with the objective of generating a culture of production of animation and related arts.
