Turns out that Shiv is not her son. She gave birth to a stillborn child 30 years ago. And Shiv is really Chhoti Ma's son. They swapped babies secretly cos Iravati's husband and Chhoti Ma were worried about Ira's sanity.

(If you ask me, she's still not entirely stable.)

So anyhoo, that's the big secret.
