Dia , what I want to write is no generalization or directed to any one person including my Bhabhi . It's only my experience and observation .
Only children get a bad rap. Which I totally disagree .despite the hundreds of studies that show only children are no different than people with siblings.
They think that stereotypical only child is a selfish, pampered brat lacking social skills. Though smaller families are now the norm specially in India amongst higher class . In US we still see multi children families the stigma surrounding only children remains.In my opinion -Only children appear to have more because they don't have siblings to share with. From toys to college educations, only children are the sole recipients of their parent's resources. And that's not always monetary , only children never have to fight for their parents' attention.many only children prefer the company of adults from a young age because they astutely realize that other kids are f***ing crrrazy.
Studies have repeatedly shown that only children are no different from their peers not particularly lonely, maladjusted, selfish, etc. In fact, the only differences found have been generally positive, possibly because their parents are able to dedicate more resources directly to them, only children tend to have more academic success. But there's no doubt in my mind that being an only child is an indelibly altering experience that can be rewarding, but also impoverishing.
Dr. Seuss book ' Oh The Places You'll Go ". Has a quote which I love , "Whether you like it or not, alone is something you'll be quite a lot!" There are people out there that don't know how to be alone, specially multi sibling families . Being an only child teaches you the most valuable skill of all, the ability to be alone.few of my best friends are only child . I am found this most valuable thing . Only children think of their best friends as their brothers and sisters. Despite their self-centeredness, they can be extremely loyal their friends are everything. This is great quality in only child .
FYI. Famous only children include , FDR, Frank Sinatra, Lance Armstrong, and Elvis. Oh yeah, and some dude you may have heard of, goes by the name Jesus. You might remember him or read about him . He is everywhere in US ,as the guy who invented magic tricks and being nice to other people, though. So yeah, there have been some pretty rad only children.including Dia I know . So you are in great company . So offense . Smile . These are my true thoughts !!
