you know there are many. but still if I had to pick one it woudl be Karna's death. The only character who has been on the receiving end of nothing but injustice right from his birth, he was one character who didn't deserve to die.

Abhimanyu's death comes second to me. He was wronged of course but at least his death wasn't one like Karna's. Abhimanyu was overpowered, Karna was defenseless not just by circumstances but also owing to the curse that Parshuram heaped upon him.

To me the scene of his death was diluted as Krishna makes Arjun recall every wrong he has done, including harassment of Draupadi and scheming to kill Abhimanyu.

To me the saddest scene was when Kunti reveals to him that he is her son, requests him to call himself Kaunteya, but he refuses. And says, quite wistfully that had she acknowledged him as her son on the day of the tournament, everything would have been different.

Me cried a river. Bas!

And then the Mahabharat wouldn't have been the same!
For me the epic is as much about the feud between the Kauravas ad the Pandavas as it is about the person who was a victim of circumstances, the decisions he took as a result of them and ultimately all of it culminating into a tragic end for him.

I love the Mahabharat. When it was written who knew how relatable it would be even in the twenty first century?

If Karna is your favorite character, then Palace Of Illusions is a must read!

I think Karna was one of the best characters in the show - largely human. I never "got" any of the others as much. Especially Arjuna.

By the way, when Ghatotkatcha dies and falls on the Kaurava army to make him cause damage to the enemy even in death - was pretty sad too.

What a waste!

Mere muh ki baat chura li tumne

For me Karna was a much more of a hero than Arjuna or any of the Pandavas. If you see each Pandava has a vice, small or big. Karna on the other hand... true hero. In any case I have a thing for the underdog 😊

I have yet to read the various versions and parallel books of the Mahabharat. A few years ago I read a Marathi book titled Yugandhar which predominantly focused on Krishna's life but a part which contained Draupadi's views on Yudhishtir was an eye opener

True that. Krishna technically "sacrificed" Ghatotkacha to protect Arjuna.

Arjun was a lucky boy - gifted since birth, royal lineage, had Drona and Krishna on his side - and they both put him above all others.

Among the Pandavas Bheem is the one I like the best.
So which part of the Mahabharat peeves you the most?
