nice post tanya..on characters onscreen..you knw long back i had written somewhere.. there have been many angry young men onscreen and yes i hav been fan of sujal, angad n all those who came bfore ASR.. what different was the way he was presented..story was not new.. we have so many such characters onscreen havin past issues and thus are repelled to love until someone special comes in their lives.. ASR was in its portrayal very real.. someone you cud relate too...someone whose reactions you cud understand...someone whose pain will pierce your heart... I will tell you a simple example...there is one scene in IPK where ASR is trying to get khushi back home aftr kidnappin track...the scene is confrontation between A and K..where khushi says everything will be over in some days and he gives response to her looking into her eyes- itna asaan hain tumhare liye..just watch that scene.- simple dialogues..no tears...yet you will like the man is dying with her statement...I am yet to come across such subtle and real portrayal on TV atleast...

Everyone's effort matters and they deserve credit but its the actors who does justification to the character written for them. In the end you are seeing the actor portraying the character in. There are many actor portraying the character of angry young man even today, but can anyone tell me y wasn't the same adulation, love, fame, craziness, was not given. to others actors who portrayed the same role on par with Barun,Whereas Barun was showered all the above with open arms on a silver patter. Its the way Barun enacte and portrayed the character Asr

The impact was huge and left people mesmerized and asking for more!!

If barun wouldn't have enacted the role Asr as he did with his brilliant acting. Would people have still gonna ahead given credit to creatives saying creative have done a good job but the actor screwed it up. I don't think so.

Its through a character's success the person who wrote and directed them find their success no matter its the off screen or on screen effort. Cause its through the way the character is been enacted , you judge the writers and related person. Barun gave life to a character called Asr. My pov.

My two cents on the on screen character portrayl, I have more coming if people are ready to gothrough 😆

@Riti, agreed with you. Even I did mention it a long while ago in the forum. IPK is not original in terms of script, characterisation, what is original is the way the actors portrayed their respective characters.

I know a lot of IPK fans get offended when fans of other show complain that IPK stole their idea - but that is the truth. There was no originality in terms of storyline, what was refreshing in IPK was the simplicity in the dialogues & the actors bringing out the best/worst of their characters!

ASR had the least number of dialogues, but it took a lot of talent to project what the character is feeling without saying the words out loud. To let the audience know what your character is thinking without words is down to the actor. For once, there was subtlety in portraying an angry young man. Watching others, it feels the same (to me).

There is one scene during the DKS track when Anjali goes to ASR's room and says she wants her husband back, the change in ASRs expression was very subtle, the shock due to betrayal by the sister was perfectly done by Sobti here. It's not the long winded dialogues that make the most impact, but the silent, non-verbal communication.

Every actor playing their characters was complemented by their co-stars. Sanaya was equally brilliant in portraying the emotions of Khushi. If one of them was not up to the mark, the show would have been like every other show of this genre.

PS: I am not talking about Sheetal and Mrs. India tracks. I have conveniently forgotten that its part of the show!
