but they work Angeena..so many channels, so many shows , mostly with a common theme..romance, saas bahu, family drama etc. etc...since we all relate to these issues , as in, it's common with everyone, toh we like to watch it on television ...they have an audience for it that's why its working..they provide us daily dose of entertainment 😆 works with the housewives in particular..a majority of them r sitting idle at home...television changed our lifestyle ..now i cannot imagine my life without tv...there's a phase where i dun like anything on any channel so i take a break, but most of the time it's good timepass..

i didn't like Ekta kappor style of story telling..frm the time that changed, there r better shows with good content..something for everybody on each channel toh it got better with time...experimentation is also needed...

Its been established over the years and it sells. That is why CVs are not too keen on experimenting. Have you seen Star one shows? They used to be more youth oriented and really different. I was a huge fan of Miley Jab hum Tum during my Engineering days.

You are right when you say that each English show is different.

The worst thing I find is that almost all the families are gujartis or punjabis(movies especially) or rajasthanis.. Come on why keep using beednis, maa-sa, etc?

They have full liberty to make family-oriented shows, but why focus on them. Have they forgotten that there are other people out there?

I remember Miley Jab Hum Tum. I saw it for a few months and then quit. It was different from saas-bahu stuff which I just couldn't bear. StarOne was completely for youth. They never aired saas-bahu stuff. DD and VD both started from that channel.

Now that this has come up,

I think we should refrain from getting into regionalism here. I agree there aren't many people on this thread yet, but we still don't know each other Mother tounge right? You never know it might hurt someones sentiments. This is my opinion. I feel a little wary being the TM. 😆 😆

I sometimes think that since english shows air just once a week, they are forced to put everything in a single 1 hour episode. So they don't get a chance to wander of topic.
Hindi shows air 5/6 days a week. So they stretch out should have taken just one or two episodes into a week long drama.

I think creativity and sleekness of their shows varies too, like it does here. I gave up watching Hindi serials in 2006. And I would only watch hbo, star movie, world, zee cafe. After 3 years, I realized even the hollywood movies are getting boring. That's when I switched to English series. Some I have found to be out-worldly. Some not so much. But it never got on my nerve like hindi serials did. My parents are loyal viewers of BV, right from the beginning. And that show makes me so mad, that I want to punch the TV screen. Long unending tracks, dragging it for week after week, people refusing to behave like normal people. And lastly I can digest that people go to bed with their make up on, but sleeping wearing the heaviest lehenga and entire jewelley, I draw a line there.

And I quite like the idea of 1 hour format per week. They usually have one track for the week and one running track in the background for the entire season. Like with Mentalist its Red John, White Collar this season has Neal's father. I'm not complaining that MB is airing 6 days a week, but in the long run it gonna worn out everybody, us and the team alike. So Indian TV needs the season format more than anything. Take a break of few months and come back fresh and rested.

yes, it's unbearable to watch the typical families..🤢 beendnis n whatever..also, the shows which show conservative adults..ufff...totally bakwas...half of the time is wasted on what r u wearing and why, ye kya bana diya, ye kya pehen liya, mandir kyun nahi gaye, pooja mein kyun nahi aaye, just not my cup of tea...got fed up with yeh rishta also bec. of it...we've seen so much of it during ekta kapoor days ke i'm fed up of it..go to Gujrat or Maharashtra or Punjab, u will never find women dressed up like that 😆 the culture in these states is very advanced...Punjab toh is wayyy ahead ...West ko bhi peeche chod diya 😆
