I am totally with you about having the right teachers when it comes to classical dances and all the other practical aspects Pallo and your teacher seems pretty awful 😲 . I am sorry you had to put up with that kind of a teacher yaar 🤗 Yes, there are VERY few who can teach classical dances with passion and make the students fall in love with it- personally, I was never a fan of classical dancing myself when I was learning dance in school, because well, it seemed boring especially since my postures had to be perfect and I cannot exactly improvise if I forget my step on the stage because every step has a meaning and there is a reason behind why it was choreographed for that particular bit of music or lyrics. In a way, Indian classical dance forms are like Science, they are not everyone's cup of tea as there is a lot of technicality involved . I too found it very hard in the beginning but our dance teacher thought out a way to get us excited about them and so he made us perform in these broadway like dramas (based on stories from Indian epics like Mahabharatha) during our school annual days and that really got us interested in learning the dance form. My friend was a gifted classical dancer, she was a naturally graceful dancer , it was almost as if she was tailor made for classical dancing and I was kind of jealous because I had more of a bindaas body language and I found bollywood dancing more comfortable and I wanted to have perfect postures like her😆 . Anyways, once I started understanding the gestures of classical dancing and what they stood for, I think I have really really enjoyed it. I loved Kamal Hassan for that reason too - he was a FANTASTIC classical dancer , to watch him perform a classical dance form was a dream , watch this video and you will understand why I love classical dance so much and bend towards that . Let me explain the context here- the female dancer gives a performance in which she depicts the five elements i..e air, water, sky, earth and fire in the form of "evil" because they are called "panchabhoothas", all the other journalists give her a resounding review, praising her performance sky high except for Kamal Hasan because having been a dancer himself, he immediately catches her blunder and so, he writes a negative review. Now , she is a rich girl who is arrogant about her dancing skills, so she comes down to his office to question him about it. He asks her to repeat her steps for that bit and she does. He then shows her how it is to be ACTUALLY interpreted and then shows how that could have been performed in different classical dance forms, it is mind blowing (watch it from 3:10) -

Anyways, all the rambling apart - my point is, if our film industry or other media platforms (majority of them) had invested at least 10% in endorsing classical dance forms like they advertize or encourage western dance forms, then trust me I wouldn't be complaining right now. Here , it is being blatantly ignored and that bothers me a lot. And I think most of the Indian classical dance form teachers are frustrated because they never get enough opportunities - ultimately they have to suffer either financially or creatively. Tell me, how many classical dancers (who don't know any western forms) can make a mark as a choreographer and open successful dance institutes all over the country or even make a decent living out of their art? WHO gives them the opportunity, utilizes their talent, markets well and actually creates interest about the dance form? If you ask me, I'd say NONE and that is because, sadly, people don't see the potential in it. THAT, is the core of my complaint Pallo.
Whew! I think I also caught on your essay epidemic now 😲 😆. Looks like I got a little emosanal there- kinda touchy topic for me 😆.
Aww thanks for liking my new user name 🤗. Actually "Bazinga" is not used in only one episode, it is Sheldon's catch phrase, he uses that to indicate that he pulled a fast one on the person(s) he is conversing with 😆. There was one video which Amy posted sometime back, showing some of Sheldon's "Bazingas", this is the one I think -
