I am more baffled by the producers of Soundtrack than disappointed. 😊😊 I wonder why the producers who were celebrating till ten days before the release and congratulating me for a superb film changed their stance at the time of release 🤗 (poor boy )

Your last film Soundtrack won you critical acclaim, but did not fare well at the box-office? What was your reaction?

Yes, Soundtrack failed at the box-office despite rave reviews.😳😳😃 However, personally, I benefitted from the film. 😳😳😃 What is disheartening is that it was not even put to a litmus test. 😭 It was declared a failure at BO without even a contest.(exactly Rajeev ) It may not be a masterpiece but it surely grabs attention😳😳😃. I am more baffled by the producers of Soundtrack than disappointed. As an actor you invest in the script, director and the producer. To make a film like Soundtrack, you have to have a committed and passionate team.😃😃 It hurts when you see the effort of the whole team go waste. The script and director were appreciated by most of the people who saw the film. In hindsight, do you regret doing the film?

I will never regret doing Soundtrack.😳😳 It was a decision that didn't bear fruit but not a bad one. 😊 However, it would have been understandable had the film not worked after a proper release and promotion. Anyway, eventually a film belongs to the producer. I have forgotten Soundtrack like all my past projects. As always, I start afresh after every movie. 😳😳

What's happening to Will You Marry Me?😛

No idea, the film is incomplete and the producers are absconding.

You seem to be particularly stuck with films that either don't see the light of the day (Peter Gaya Kaam Se) or are incomplete (Will You Marry Me?).

That's a part and parcel of my industry. As far as Peter Gaya Kaam Se is concerned it is dead meat for me. That film is three-and-a-half years old and incomplete. A few scenes had to be shot and the last I heard they were trying to complete it. However, I have walked out of it. 😆

What about Raakh and Fever?

We have just completed Raakh. 😳😳 The film borders on the supernatural. It is a love story and I play an obsessed lover.😳😳 Directed by Tanuja Chandra, it's completely her film. As for Fever, we have finished the first schedule in Switzerland. After that, I got busy with Soundtrack and then Ayesha Takia, who is my co-star in the film, was busy promoting Mod. We had shot in summer before the snowfall in Switzerland and since then the topography has changed. Now we have to wait for some time to get the same backdrop. Also, since the film is based in Switzerland, we cannot shoot elsewhere. 😳😳

Of the roles that you have done so far, which would you say was the most challenging?

I guess all of them were challenging. The DJ of Soundtrack who becomes deaf was emotionally taxing. The role had various shades to it. 😳😳 The simmering rage of ACP Arvind Mathur in Shaitan was equally challenging. (mathur saab😳😳) I didn't have a single dialogue with my wife in the film but the love story stands out.😆😆😆 (shadi ko ek saal bhi nahi hua tha)😆😆😆 My forthcoming films like Fever in which I play a writer, my character in Raakh are both different but the most challenging role so far I would say was Aamir.😳😳 That was my first step into the world of films. Shot over 30 days on the streets it was physically, emotionally, mentally most exhausting and most satisfying role.😳😳

Is there any director with whom you want to work?

Yash Chopra. 😃😃I have loved the variety of his films. He has kept up with the times and given films like Deewaar, Chandni and Veer– Zaara. Later he stopped directing but now that he is back he has chosen Shah Rukh Khan and I am jealous of him. (Smiles) 😆😆😆😆

You are back as host on Sach Ka Saamna 2. How is it different from its predecessor?

The format is the same but this time it's about corruption at work place, corrupt thoughts, how they approach the issue etc. It's about people who want to face the truth and begin a new innings. These are people troubled by the fact that the country is not progressing the way it should, by the fact that a handful of people are amassing wealth through scams and black money. They want to put an end to it. So, the flavour of this season is, 'a new beginning with the truth'.

What kind of people are appearing on the show?

All I can tell you is that we have lawyers, doctors and professionals coming up and confessing to malpractices, accepting bribes, bucking rules, regulations etc. These people have come from across the country, even small-towns. You have to watch the episodes to believe the kind of things they reveal. Mind you, all of them are aware of the consequences.

Yet they are ready to face it because they all want to start afresh and change the system. In fact, that's the positive thing I take away from the show.

How truthful are you as a person?
