Abhishek and Aishwariya had a baby girl? Congrats to them and their families!

So, Aishwarya Rai Bachhan just had a girl 😃

Exactly...all the Sitara Ek/Twilight type of crap only fuels these notions further.

Ash had a baby girl? Awww I hope she got her mother's eyes...she'll be one beautiful baby girl :-)

Had any of them intervened, they would have been butchered along with the two guys. It's the system that is fault here. There is no sense of security. The rich and/or powerful people abuse their privileges and there is nothing that the law can do against them. Living in place like that, can you really afford to take chances?

If FORTY ppl had intervened to stand against FOUR guys, how would they have been butchered, Sarah? It's about mentality...if ppl really come down to mob mentality, those four murderers wouldn't have stood a chance...they had knives, not guns.

It's easier said than done but that is why the stand that these two guys took is so admirable...they stood up for what is RIGHT...not cowering in fear...and sadly this is what ended up happening...that doesn't make their death a waste though...like the father said...his son didn't die a meaningless death if so many ppl are talking about it and condemning what happened.

But yes the system is most definitely at fault the most.

@ Anu - It's true what you said about forty people versus four men ... but if you think about it, what if those four guys had connections to bigger gangs and stuff? They might have retaliated. Of course, I'm not supporting the bystanders' decision to do nothing ... I'm just attempting to find justifications. I don't know a lot of details about such situations but I have heard that most people living in India/Pakistan don't risk their own safety to aid someone being attacked because they're afraid it could hurt them in return. Hope I'm not sounding ignorant - I just don't know much about the way these street issues work. Maybe it did have something to do with the mentality that sexual crimes aren't to be taken very seriously.
Yep, what those two guys did was quite exemplary. Standing up for a woman who was being assaulted was a very noble thing to do. I hope this incident encourages the system to do something about it.

Yes that is the general mentality...to avoid getting involved in issues but yeah ppl are ever ready to stand and watch a TAMASHA.

I've lived in India most of my life and this entire "eve teasing" thing is a menace every girl has to live with...especially in North India...I was dealing with it since the age of 12...it's like a "fun" passtime for guys.

What happened in this case ofcourse crossed the line into murder...this reminds me of the Jessica Lal case in a way too...where she was shot dead only cuz she refused a drink to a spoilt brat...and it's shocking that this incident happened in Mumbai cuz Mumbai is supposed to be one of the safest cities for women in India...Delhi is much worse and this kind of harassment is common there...here these guys took a stand and they had to pay with their lives...but it makes you think about where we are as a society and I'd like to think on some level this would make ppl get up and stand up for something.

That is the difference out here in countries like U.S. etc...you are let be...no one is staring at you, ogling at you or passing lewd comments simply because you are a girl...in India, in desi countries, there is a "chalta hai" attitude...which as Seema Goswami said is fueled more than ever by the bollywood movie/desi soaps "romance" formulas.

Good morning people! How are we doing today? 😃

I was shocked and appalled to read what happened to those two brave boys who had the courage to take a stand. May their souls indeed rest in peace.

@ Anu - Sorry to hear about your eve-teasing experiences. It must have been very irksome to be treated in that manner. I haven't faced it myself but during my summer visits to Pakistan I did notice lots of awara and sadak chaap guys ogling at girls, passing suggestive comments, and so on. It was pathetic. The desi countries need to do something about this pronto.
Bollywood and especially TV soaps glorify stalking and eve-teasing as true love. The fact that Pratigya, where the female lead married her eve-teaser, used to be the number one soap shows the kind of mentality that people have adopted.

Hi LadyM!

@Sarah: LOL yes it is irksome...everyone has to use their own defense mechanisms...you have to be on your guard.

Yep Partigya is the ultimate example of this cheap mentality being glorified into "romance".

And on a lighter note, Sammy Boy is back on television. The best part about reading comeback articles is the comments ... the way people vouch for their preferred love interests to be cast alongside the person is so amusing. :P

LadyM, did you watch yesterday's BALH??? I liked the RP scene in their room...especially Ram's retort about "what's the need to watch that snoring vid now when you can watch LIVE ACTION in a few minutes"😆

Good riddance to that Ashwin loser...
