What If...

Sunday, June 12, 2011 | 11:43:04 AM IST (+05:30 GMT) What If...

Harshad Chopra speaks for Telly Buzz's What If...

What is Harshad Chopra busy with after Star Plus' Tere Liye?

Well, Telly Buzz has no intention to disappoint the viewers anymore as we caught up with this actor to know What If… he was not an actor and what he has been with these days.

Well, here is Harshad speaking to you.

What If…..

'With any part you play, there is a certain amount of yourself in it. There has to be, otherwise it's just not acting. It's lying'- Johnny Depp

"I have no idea what I would have been if not an actor because ever since I came into senses I had always wanted to become an actor.

I was very active in sports and had tried my hands in NCC, Discus Throw and a master in lazing around. I loved watching movies and as a child I was really crazy. I used to guess the actors by just listening to songs and the singer. When I think of those things these days I feel really funny, but the interesting part is that most of the time I got it right.

I did my engineering because that was another thing that was there in my father's check –list (laughs), but even after that I knew I was not meant for that.

Actually we are living in an age that is completely different from which our parents had lived in. During those days, education was the only means to be successful in life. But today the generation loves adventure and is more creative and lives the way they like.

I never told my parents I wanted to become an actor because after I finished my studies I just came to Mumbai and started trying for ads and ramps. But survival in Mumbai is the toughest part and when I realized I needed to do something for bread and butter, I thought of trying my hands in Television and luckily I did not have to struggle much to get my first show, Mamta.

But even today I feel that there is a lot to attain from this industry.

To all those people who are aspiring to become actors, the industry is not what you think the way it is. There is a lot more here than just acting and the world here is completely different from what it seems to be. This is a very competitive industry where there is no security and guarantee of your success. Apart from the preparations that are needed for an actor, there is a lot more to do once you come here. Today I wish I had someone to take care of everything so that I just have to act."

Harshad is busy these days learning stuffs he likes the most, like Dancing, Swimming and other similar activities...

FHM in his most recent issue revealed the results of the 100 Sexiest Women Poll, 2011 which they annually conduct; results of which are based off online polls and SMS's from readers like you!

A record 35,000 entries plus made it for the contest voting this time, and Katrina Kaif emerged top of the list at rank 1 in the end. Her greater accolade lies however, in having made to this honorable spot not just this once, but a total of three years now - a first time record, according to FHM India's Executive editor,in the 17 years that this list has been brought out. Meanwhile, last year's #1 position holder, Deepika Padukone slips down a rank to make place for Kat.

Other names like Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor carry forward into the Top Ten list again, while names of Sonakshi Sinha, and Anushka Sharma are brand new. Yet more interesting is the presence of Vidya Balan - who for all her cinematic excellence has been at the receiving end of fashion police for the worse, time and again; or even Mallika Sherawat who for all the caustic attention she attracts can never be forgotten amongst the 'Sexiest' most! Surprisingly however, Sonam Kapoor who has been top of several fashion avatars and events the year gone by is no where in top 10, ranking far below at #20.

Ever wondered what happened to Sanjay Gadhvi, the director of the highly successful Dhoom series? For those in the unknown, the director had to be replaced when matters came to who will direct the next Dhoom instalment, Dhoom 3.

After facing immense failure with his film Kidnap, Gadhvi had to immediately abandon plans of his next project, 7 Days in Paris, which he planned to cast Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif as his lead pair. If that wasn't a huge setback in his career, the director was later harassed with legal issues from the production house of TV 18. Now that he's bound with a legal contract with them till 2011, Gadhvi's future plans will have to be put on hold till the coming year.

But it seems that the setbacks have only roared Gadhvi to push on. Rumors have it that the director has already planned his comeback film, one that he anticipates will jump the success of the Dhoom series. Gadhvi's even already spoken to a few actor's he consider's drafting up who include: Imraan Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, and Sonaskhi Sinha. That's one impressive list of hot youngsters!

However, although Gadhvi may have been replaced by Yash Raj Banners for the upcoming Dhoom film, the director still wishes the entire team well.

After success with Dhoom 2, will Sanjay Gadhvi be able to create the same amount of success without the Yash Raj Banner besides him?

The verbal war between ace directors Karan Johar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali that had ensued post the release of latter's Ranbir and Sonam starrer Saawariya, is widely known. The inception of this estrangement between the two was Johar making a joke about the movie being a "blue film", a remark that did not go down casually well with Bhansali; who went on to vent his anger via public media. Karan did not take it sitting down from there either, going on to say that anyone who uses media as a means of communicating, is not a friend of his and that Bhansali needs to lighten up a bit more!

More recently, the cold and hot vibes between these two leading men have begun to fade out. Ver recently, everything was put aside as KJo and Bhansali came together once again on the sets of popular reality show 'X-factor'. Karan, while praising the show for being the best talent show, also had only good words to say for the three judges - Shreya Ghoshal, Sonu Nigam and yes, the infamous foe, Bhansali. So generous was Karan in making up for the differences, that he pronounced Bhansali one of the greatest directors in the industry, and then gave the man a hug.

And so bygones were set to be bygones. The show proceeded with Karan announcing to give the winner a chance to sing for one of his upcoming films, and when host, Aditya Narayan, shared this news with the top 12 contestants, their excitement soared higher than ever.

Well, we say, there are plenty who could learn the lesson of 'making up' from these two in B-town today! Meanwhile, you be sure to catch the next episode of X-factor on Friday on Sony Entertainment Television!
