I thought, when did these guys grow up? 😆 They're just so mature, so well-spoken and well-intentioned. When Sachin and Yuvi hugged on the grounds, I couldn't help sigh....

Sachin, for all his "God-like" status, was such a bacha! 😆 Running down the pavilion, waving his hands in the air and jumping up and down with joy - would anyone believe that this man is considered the best cricketer in the world? Would they believe he is 22 years old in this business? The most humble human being I have ever come across - he deserves every platitude going.

Yeah that quote was just EPIC.....SO well spoken of Virat....they were all just FANTASTIC in the aftermath of the win.....so well spoken and mature....and the love and respect for Sachin that just shows in them.....it is too touching.....

LOL yeah I was saying the same thing to my Mom....I was like Maa does he look like an almost 40 year old man from any angle?? LOL.....he looks like he belongs in the same PEER GROUP as Kohli, Raina etc.....that's how boyish he still looks....that enthusiasm and energy is there just as much as always.....He is a great GREAT man.....words aren't enough to describe. He deserves to be admired and venerated forever.

Agreed.....I've also NEVER before seen the ENTIRE team get along as well together on and off field as this one.....yes there have been great players before this.....but this truly UNIFIED in EVERY way sort of front they now have.....it's just soooooooo amazing and warms your heart. They've got each other's backs totally.....that's what a true team is about.

LOL, I don't think I saw many of those....I guess if he's Ram, then the rest of the team was ther Vaanar Sena?! 😆 Before this WC, I might have agreed with that....but the way the guys have done it, stone by stone, brick by brick - I guess it is still an apt analogy 😆 LMAO it was hilarious.....I saw that poster on Friday I think.......Dhoni as Ram, I think Sachin was Laxman, Bhajji was HANUMAN🤣....and I'm forgetting what the others were now😆

Poor Zak - he was doing incredibly well in the first 3 overs (trying to rid his memories of that final against Australia where he leaked runs)...but I think, spare a thought for Jaya, because he was fabulous too - not a single stupid shot, and he cruised to a century. Who would have thought that it wouldn't have been enough?Yeah that guy batted really well....and his wife was so sweet in the stands.....classy lady......

I feel like Sreesanth has been better than this, but I can see how he might have gotten nervous, with it being a WC final - the pressure could have gotten to him. And in the end, it didn't matter. But it could have mattered - it could have been one of the reasons we could have lost; and I guess that is something worth thinking about. I don't like Sreesanth anyways😆.....OTT cartoon.....ghusoing everywhere....but chalo it's not like we had an AMAZING list of bowlers to pick from anyways in the squad we'd brought for this cup😆.....pace bowlers especially are hard to come by....but chalo he didn't do TOO bad also.....our bowlers did a good job restricting the powerful SL batting line-up overall.

But I missed you guys, esp. when it came to the WC - it would have been fantastic to share those moments with you on Saturday....

Aww, like Sachin said after winning the WC-" it's never too late" 🤗 this is something , I dare to speak for everyone here, which we will never get tired of for a very long time , the euphoric victorious feeling is not going to die anytime soon 😆. Be assured that the buzz , the madness is going to go on for quite a lot of time before IPL gets into the thick of things 😆 or there is some MAJOR twist in LTL or D-E/HH come back with some interviews and updates about Season 7 😆

I was sitting at home, going through rollercoaster emotions; first innings I was moderately happy, thinking we had a shot...then Sehwag & Sachin out at 33 and I nearly cried 😆 I wanted to rip Malinga's hair out strand by strand (never mind that I actually quite admire his bowling skills on any other day!)...I was sooooooo sure we had lost! I turned the TV off for about 20 minutes after that because my nerves were getting the better of me. But WHAT A COMEBACK! 👏👏

Roller-coaster indeed! I think I can give a lucid minute to minute account of the entire day from the moment the match started till the moment we held the golden beauty in our hands 😍
. I can still recount and almost feel that thump of my heart, the anxiety , the restlessness and all that get relieved at ONE SHOT with that SUPERB SIXER hit by Dhoni .....😆
About Malinga, I have to agree with Anu here, I am not a fan of his bowling action, he just uses his pace and nothing else, if that gets him wickets good, else if there is a batsman out there who can work his way around his bowling and tame his pace, the team with that batsman can have a field day. Malinga has never really impressed when it comes to swinging the ball the way Chamunda Vaas could- now, Chamunda Vaas was a FANTASTIC bowler who used his pace intelligently and also managed to swing the ball beautifully...I'd say Malinga is akin to Shoaib Akhtar who also uses his pace alone and does not really get the ball to swing so much like Waqar Younis could....

Virat, Gauti & Dhoni proved just how excellent this team now is. Even though I love Sachin to death and was sad he didn't get his 100th 100, in a way I was glad that it wasn't him and Sehwag who "saved" the day; rather, it was a team effort that showed that everyone in the team is now good enough to steer us to victory. And I loved that Dhoni had the courage and sense to come out ahead of Yuvraj (and not stay hidden in the dressing room and let his team do all the hard work) and play the innings of his life. And what an innings - 2 almost centuries (plus Mahela's century = 3 centuries in one WC final!) ...

I couldn't agree more- this victory was special because it was a TEAM effort and the ENTIRE TEAM contributed to the victory, not just any one player....

The absolute concentration on Dhoni's face throughout - no celebration as he got to 50, no smiles - that final, spectacular shot for six where he just stands and watches the ball fall into the stands before he moves....what class! 👏 I truly think he is the best captain we have had in a long, long time, and Gary Kirsten is the best coach ever. Truly, the boys did not - for once in their lives - play like the underdogs. They played like champions, and they won like champions. Yuvi's every dive to save the ball in the 1st innings, Raina's excellent fielding & 38 year old Sachin diving at the boundary line to save 4 runs...this is truly a killer team. I was immensely proud of them that day, and I still can't get the massive grin off my face.

YES YES YES! They played like CHAMPS since the Windies match, they were in a very scary experimental mode before that but since the loss to SA I think they all bucked up and became this unbreakable unit- if one player failed, another stepped up, if one department failed, another stepped up , the best part was there was always a back up and we were just unstoppable by the opponents no matter what they did unless we ourselves wanted to indulge in self-destruction 😆. The attitude with which they were playing reflected a resolve to win and THAT is what a team aiming for a world championship needs - the stubbornness to just NOT give up even if the situation seems completely out of control, the ability to remain calm, fight back and just BELIEVE that it CAN and WILL be done by them , I can just go on and on with the praises and never stop! 😆

edit: And I love that De Ghumake song now 😆 Didn't listen to it much before, but now it's on permanent repeat at the moment 😆 Totally suited to our Indian team spirit!

I never really liked that song but it just did wonders to the team and their spirit and did its bit to drive them I guess. Suddenly, it makes so much sense now 😆

LOL Kavya, I also didn't think much of the 'de ghuma ke' song when I first had it but when you juxtapose it with our win.....those epic visuals, that song now seems PERFECT and EMBEDDED in my mind......It makes me feel like jumping up and dancing all the time now.....lol

LOL, I wouldn't say that Sourav is not a great captain, he was a FANTASTIC captain with an eye for talent- how can we forget that he is the one who brought Yuvi, Bhajji,Zaheer and even Dhoni himself to this team, in a way he contributed to building the team that we see today,he was the one who laid the foundation in fact, Dhoni only built on it later. Ganguly always led fearlessly and from the front, the only problem was he was a bit emotional and let his heart get in way a bit more unlike Dhoni which is what works in favor of Dhoni. I think he is the COOLEST Indian captain ever, Dhoni, I feel, has studied the past Indian captains closely and made sure he does not make the same mistakes they did, he has head in the right place and his ability to remain composed and collected no matter what is just TERRIFIC. It is never easy to be the captain of Indian cricket team - there is too much pressure and there are too many expectations. One mistake and decision gone wrong could literally destroy them - emotionally and professionally, the magnitude of both the rewards and the brickbats is enormous, I can vouch for a fact that even Ricky Ponting could not have handled the pressure of being an Indian captain, it is easier to lead the Australian team. The trick is to not let all those expectations and the burden weigh you down, that is an art which Dhoni has mastered beautifully, he keeps his calm no matter what and adamantly does what he believes in, fully aware of and prepared for the outcome and repercussions- good or bad, when the leader who the team looks up to doesn't feel this pressure and doesn't put it on his team-mates, it gives them the freedom to perform and contribute in their own way and that reflects in the individual's performances as well as team's performance on the field very well. I would also have to disagree that Dhoni is not a brilliant batsman, he IS! He wouldn't have won his place in the team in the first place if he hadn't been - it's just that off late we haven't witnessed Dhoni in his full form , if we go back a few years, around the time Dhoni entered the team, we can see that he is one explosive and highly talented batsman.

Hmmm you know I was never really bowled over by Sourav Ganguly....yes he's a great player but somehow I didn't see that TRUE leadership ability in him that I see in Dhoni......having the eye for talent and MANAGING that talent are two different hings....if he brought those ppl on board, that's good....but to TRULY get THIS kind of output out of them is what really matters.....and that's what Dhoni has done.....the guy overnight changed things for the team given the way they won the T20......and it's been ongoing since.... work in progress.

But yes, Dhoni's TEMPERAMENT is what truly sets him apart from all previous Indian captains.....I haven't seen any other Indian captain manage to have that kind of temperament given the kind of pressure always riding on the Indian team.....all Indians are emotional....Dhoni is too but he harnesses his emotions better than any previous captain......the heart is all there....but he doesn't lose his head in the process.

Sourav has managed very well as well Anu but I think it was easier for Ganguly to manage the team back then because he had strong veterans like Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar,Anil Kumble backing him, he really didn't have to "manage" them, he only had to "manage" and "inspire" players like Yuvraj , Bhajji, Zaheer etc., who flourished under him and they have now come to a position where they can step up and take responsibility. I will have to disagree that Ganguly wasn't a great leader, he was a great leader too but his temperament was a set-back and that very ability to stay composed and have his head in place is what works in MSD's favor...I think every Indian captain learnt from their predecessor's mistakes- Azharuddin learnt from Ravi Shastri's mistakes, Ganguly learnt from Azhar's and Dhoni learnt from Ganguly's. Ganguly had lifted the standards of Indian cricket quite a lot, he made mistakes too but he was a better model to learn from for Dhoni. Also the fact that Dhoni comes from a middle-class background helps him keep his cool and stay rooted unlike Sourav who had a bit of attitude problem because of his blue blood and had this tendency to float quite often....

Hmmm.....ok, Kavya.

Honestly I do remember having watched a lot of cricket in Ganguly's times and he never impressed me like Dhoni has.....just my personal opinion. And yes, I always admired Dravid more than Ganguly.

I never got the impression that Ganguly did anything specifically to REALLY inspire the team.....the veterans like Sachin, Dravid etc. were all set anyways.....newbies like Yuvi, Kaif, Dhoni at that point brought in their OWN fresh josh...I don't see what Ganguly specifically had to do with inspiring them a lot.

And I don't ever even recall Sachin or anyone else admiring Ganguly's CAPTAINING abilities like I have seen them do for Dhoni......

Yes sure Dhoni must have learnt from the past mistakes made by other captains but that's not his ONLY advantage.....aise toh Ganguly could have learnt a lot and truly been a great leader....which he wasn't IMO......
