I can totally imagine what the fans must have gone through at that point. I was like "Woah, luck is probably not on their side tonight."

Btw, until today I had no idea who the players were. I just knew Sachin (who doesn't know him) and Yuvraj because his name was brought up whenever Deepika Padukone's love life was written about ... lol. Mujhe last few days mein pata chala who Dhoni/Gambhir/Harbhajan/etc are and what they look like. The same goes for the Pakistani players. *embarrassed muh*

Waise did Deepika date Dhoni too? His name seemed vaguely familiar to me even before I watched any of the current matches!

I haven't followed cricket in a long time so wasn't familiar with many of the SL team ke players either.....that dude with the blonde highlights waale curls.....now I know he's Malinga but I was calling him blondie throughout the match and cursing him😆😆......and I used to get scared each time he'd get the ball cuz he was the one to get those first two wickets.....but baad mein Gambhir and Kohli kya SOLID set huye!👏👏.....Gambhir chose the right moment to come back into form and play such a memorable innings! And there was plenty of drama in the match to keep it close for a while....until the SL team kinda seemed to lose their josh around the 35th or 40th over....like the pressure started to get to them but the Indian team never lost theirs!

LOL I kept calling him "blonde highlights wala" too. The SL team played well though. It was a good match in terms of the drama/suspense. And I really thought the Indian team would lose their josh/confidence after Sachin and Sehwag went out. If I were one of them, main toh field mein hi behosh ho jaati itne pressure ke baad. 😛

And a special word for Sangakara.....first time I've seen this man speaking and dude, what an IMPRESSIVE guy!👏👏.....He speaks soooooooooooooo well! I don't think in my life I've ever heard ANY cricketer speak as impressively and eloquently and just so NICELY as this man! SO classy! I'm a fan now!😆.....No matter that he was the opposing side......but the sheer CLASS with which he conducted himself....and was SO gracious even in defeat......great man👏👏

I couldn't agree more! What an amazingly well spoken man.My mom and I loved what he said about his team, about the tournament and about the opposing team. Very classy!

Nahhhhh . He's too intelligent , that one. And she's exactly the opposite. They walked the ramp together once..I forget for what , it wasn't some designer , it was for some brand...they were the showstoppers . And Dhoni went to watch OSO the day it released as well , or maybe it was a couple of days after it released , so it was sone pe suhaga for Aaj Tak and the ilk :P

My GOD , I remember a lot of crap. :P

Phurrrrrrrrr :P Yeah he's married :D He got married completely out of the blue , pata nahi how he managed to keep the hounds off the scent...the entire country got to know on the day of the wedding :D But the funniest thing was , on one hand all the journos were saying that she's younger by a good 6-7 years , phir they were saying that they were classmates :P

Oh he was BRILLIANT yesterday :D And thankfullyyyy allll the risks paid off :D :D I was so surprised to see him coming in instead of Yuvraj ! Mujhe laga ki there's a time and place for foolhardiness but it wasn't then definitely...but it was a masterstroke :D His and Gary Kirsten's :D

And for the life of me , I will never , ever , ever , forget the way he simply FROZE after hitting that six :D Background mein you could see people rising , everyone knew by then that we were almost home , but Dhoni's reaction was ... I mean , never did I think that he deserved the Ice Man tag more :D :D

And Bhajji :D

It's amazing how whatever gambles he takes DO pay off in the long run......it makes you start to have FAITH somewhere, naa? LOL.....yes he's had his off times....batting out of form for a bit....but this man's INTELLIGENCE.....unflappable cool.....the way he INSPIRES the team.....it's unmatched....I've always felt that the time since Dhoni became captain, just a new kind of energy came into the team.....the way they won the T20 right after.....and just continuing since then......it's been a golden run.

Oh his expression during that six.....worddddddd.....epicccccc moment....and they were just showing it in slow mo over and over again in the action replay......and what better way to SHUT UP all his critics than to win the world cup in SUCH style! LOL I don't think ANY world cup has been won with a SIX like this😆

You know what's even more adorable though.....the GRIN on his face when he sees that it's gone for a six and he gives this little grin as he sees Yuvi walking towards him and then he runs back to get the wicket out of the stumps😆......that happy, YES waali grin.....so rarely do we see Dhoni displaying so much emotion....he's mr. cool, calm, collected otherwise always....the most touching were his tears though.....the cameras didn't get too many close-ups of him though but you could see his tears.....and I was really touched by those moments.....

The guy has something in him.......some ppl are born with that ability to be great leaders....he's one of them.....he's proved it multiple times now....with the world cup being the cherry on the icing.

My brother who studies in Toronto told me that there were parades going on in the city today! People were playing bollywood/bhangra music and carrying the Indian flag and dancing and cheering and all. 😆 What excitement! Such a memorable day! My parents were actually telling me about the '83 world cup where India last won. And they were reminiscing the moments of that world cup. Just made me have this thought that I'd probably do the same 20-30 years later with my kids about THIS world cup. 😆

Oh and totally agree with you guys about Dhoni. I also loved what he said in his interview later on. About giving all the young guys on the team their chance in this world cup. Which is probably why he took all those decisions he did, and people criticized/questioned him for it. 😆 He really is such a leader/inspirer that way. In this match, it was like as if he just HAD to go out there and do it for his team. I love the fact that he can step back and give others a chance, but when his team needs him, he steps up and takes charge.

Oh and that six wali grin...just that whole moment...SO epic! I LOVE how the match ended that way. Made it even more memorable and epic! 😍

SOOO many awesome moments we got in this match. I can relive them forever! I'm surprising myself too...since I'm not even that much of a cricket buff. 😆 But there was just something about this match, that just brought out SO much patriotism, loyalty, pride and joy from within all of us I think! A historic moment indeed. :)

I'm STILL so high from that match. 😆 I've been excited all day! 😆

Oh and I agree about Sangakara too. He's really well spoken. I had major respect for him too after this match. 😊

Count me in as the fan of Dhoni's expression after hitting the six, he was still so calm and composed even there while everyone expected him to just break into an emotional victory jig and just run for the stumps - sach main, he IS Captain Cool lol. But I have to confess, for some really strange reason, I found Dhoni's expression and his "frozen" stance so sexy after he hit that six, I even found Yuvraj's emotional kneeling down after hitting the winning runs against the Aussies sexy as well - I've lost it completely lol

But the AWWWW part was everyone getting emotional and the baccha gang of Kohli, Raina et al running around all excited and parading around with Sachin on their shoulders - *mega-awww*

LOLL Kavz...at you finding Dhoni and Yuvi, of all people sexy! 😛 I think you may have lost it a little bit. :P 😆 Man, the things cricket does to us. Even Nimrah was talking about finding someone like Afridi to have gore chitte kids with, the other day. :P 😆

lol But I gotta agree with you about Dhoni. The man's got style alright. 😎😆 He really was cool all the way through. Even during the game as he would hit four's and stuff and the crowd would go crazy. 😆 He still had that composure. Didn't let himself get too excited over a few hits when he knew that the ultimate target still had to be achieved. That composure of his was important for the team to help them deal with all that pressure.

Oh and I wasn't able to catch that match with Australia so I still haven't seen that Yuvi moment. I just saw the picture. I should go youtube that. lol

Oh and totally agree about the "bacha gang"! *aww's with you* It really was such a sweet moment. These young guys were also so emotional to be a part of something so special. Just you know sharing this kind of a moment with the team...must've been a dream come true wala moment.

I loved how they all showed that love and respect to Sachin too. Awww. Seriously, I just fell in love with our entire cricket team all over again after this match! 😍 All that bonding and the emotions. Feel like going awww over and over again. Feel so much pride too.

@Pallo: DUDE- Dhoni n YUvi are a RAGE amongst the females here especially Dhoni. I liked Dhoni for his game and his composure but I never understood why many females here go ga-ga about him until yesterday. Seriously, Dhoni's style is something else....I found Yuvi's aggression sexy against the Aussies that day lol , but the part that cracked me up most was when Yuvi was called up for the MoM award- Ravi Shastri asked him something about hitting the purple patch and he remarked "I don't know about the purple patch but the pressure was something else" in the most off-handed and casual manner. You just HAVE TO watch that, I was laughing my head off rofl
