Superpower ki baat alag hai 😆 j/k... as for my commentaries, yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy I cannot even express how much I've enjoyed reading them so much so that I've read them more than a few times... meri cousin saath bathi thi when I first saw you'd posted them and she thought I was crazy probably, beaming and nodding at the computer as I saw and liked 😆 I looked like it was Christmas already 😆 Like I said, I wanna turn these into there own threads *fingers crossed* really soon, because there is so much content in each one... and your commentaries made it so much easier to do because you highlighted the most important points!! Let me try to give quick bytes on the individual ones for which it's possible to do so, the heavier stuff I'll save for the threads:
Ugrasen-Kans:
- dubbing artist observation seems right on as far as Jarasandh, Valmiki I'm not too sure
- couldn't agree more about Vijay Kavish's acting, bilkul Ugra to perfection - his eyes are practically shooting flames, baap re 😲 Which is why I have a small pic update of it I'll shar real soon 😛
- And we also agree that Vilas Raj is really awesome here and in general at giving us a villain who we can laugh but still abhor unlike some of the Bolly clown-villains that Boman Irani, Paresh Rawal, etc. get to play whom we sometimes prefer over the hero also 😆 Particularly in this scene, his sarcasm is undeniably funny but as you said "irritatingly calm"... never lets you forget the nastiness inside 🤢 Especially in the "prati din sehkadon keede makode marte hai, ek aur gaya to" line - it's like, you don't know how to react only cuz he sounds funny but ewwww what's he saying 😲 I think when it's possible to give it it's own thread, I'll post that whole compassion-detachment paper only so we can make more such connections.
- final comments on the character in general being empowered by RS, I also totally agree on - esp compared to other depictions that had him quietly hand his crown over without a fight - quite different here, and for the better.
Sita Maa: This one as I told you in the scraps really touched me, had goosebumps reading it especially her last two dialogues. It takes a lot to make a mother mad, and the mother at the universe of infinite compassion at that. Taken in conjunction with the metaphors from the awesome article Deeps shared at the MB CC, esp the point on the baddies being representative of our own human shortcomings, it's really something to think about. Had also made a connection to one of NDTV Ramayan's dialogues from Uttar Kand (when Sita tells LavKush the Story of Shiv-Sati), but I'll save that 😉
- That footnote also deserves a thread of its own, for the Jai-Vijay comparison and all. Very awesome and thought-provoking point 👏
