Had read that the Junior Sagars were remaking Ramayan and SK and Ekta was doing MB in a local desi newspaper, was curios to see them but since I didn't have either channel then, I was looking online for the vids. In their respective forums here on IF, I found Lali's genius RS FCs, and soon I was spending more time in them than watching the new ones I came for... by now I spend more time on them than anything 😆

November 3rd, 2008. JSK forum, SK FC1, to tell Janu that a pic she posted and called SK's Devaki Maiya was actually BRC MB's. She's never been confused about that ever since 😆
5. Who is your favorite actor from Ramayan and Shri Krishna (please pick only one from both)?
Ehhhh these choose one rules, whyyyy God 😭😆 For Ramayan it is actually a 4-way tie between Arun, Daraji, Sunil, And Sanjay, but since I think the other ones have been/will be picked anyway and I can bet on who will pick which, I'm going with Sanjay Jog as Bharat. One of the most engrossing and realistic and touching performances of all time 👏
From SK, again a tie between Swapnil and Sunil Pandey. This time I'll pick Swapnil cuz I rewatched some of the Jarasandh related epis recently and was reminded of what a prodigy he is 👏 Made me pine for the original uncut versions again 😭
6. Favorite Actress (again, please pick only one)?
Ramayan - Deepika-Aparajita tie. There goes your rule, Janu 😆 Ah fine fine, I'll pick Deeps for passing perfection in the Uttar Kand epis, particularly her reaction to the Swarna Siya decision. But both ladies were equally brilliant in portraying both strength and vulnerability.
From SK... any guesses 🤣 Paullomi Mukherjee - RS's venerable characterization along with her subtlety, realism, and gentleness made an otherwise sidelined character stand out like never before and probably never again.
6. What are your favorite mythos/historical shows from the last five years or so?
NDTV Ramayan for being a pleasant reminder of RS whenever the same dialogues/tunes were used, Meera esp during childhood epis for showing her innocent faith so beautifully, Saibaba for the writing, and currently Meenakshi Sagar's Bharat Ke Mahaan Sant on NDTV Imagine. I've only seen a couple epis so far but highly recommend it - rare and touching saints' biographies, Ravindra Jain's music, and actors who don't totally suck - yayy!! And idk if Mann Mein Hai Vishwaas counts because it's not historical, but it was religious - Nitish Bharadwaj hosted and they would reenact miracles people experienced in their lives and interview them at the end of the show. The last few epis seemed a bit desperate for ratings, but for the most part very sweet and touching.
7. What are your favorite shows in general (both Indian and Western)?
Indian - anything mytho trumps anything non-mytho. Among non-mytho, all the comedies - Tarak Mehta, Papad Pol, anything on SAB basically. In non-Indian, again comedies on top - 30 Rock, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, 2 and a half men, Friends, and now Outsourced. In dramas, House, Law and Order SVU, Smallville. Rest assured I do NOT watch all of these regularly, I DO get off my couch 😆
8. What are your favorite movies in general (both Indian and Western)?
Loooonggg list. Bolly - those directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee (esp Chupke Chupke), anything written by Gulzar (preferably the ones that have good endings like Aandhi, not depressing ones where leads die), anything that starred Sanjeev Kumar, all of Amol Palekar's and Farooque Sheikh's comedies, and more. Among new stuff very few stand out - Lagaan, MNIK, Swades, TZP, 3 Idiots, Black... there must be others. check my BitS answers 😆
In Holly, most of Adam Sandler's, Will Smith's, and Jim Carey's comedies, most romantic comedies in general, Pursuit of Happyness, Unusual Suspects... again there's def more that I can't remember.
9. What are some of your favorite books?
Most mytho/religious ones that are in Hindi or English, esp those by my Guruji and his Guruji, most chick lit (esp Sophie Kinsella), comedies by Nick Hornby, Life of Pi, and... check the BitS.
10. What is one piece of advice you would like to share with the rest of us in the CC, which you think is one of the most valuable life lessons?
Nothing is worth stressing over. Today's problems will be laughable tomorrow. Moreover there's always someone nearby who's going through worse. Instead of wasting your energy by freaking out, channel it towards making them feel better and reminding them - "leave your worries to God - He'll be up all night anyway!"
