She said if that one source can do everything, why do you need so many forms? I couldn't think of anything at the moment. Somebody help me? I want to show her up 🤣

Different people relate to different things. We are all individuals and our needs are different, depending on your gender, age, caste, etc. One of the most beautiful things about Hinduism is that you get to choose any path to the Lord that fits you and still go to the one and same benevolent and almighty God. Your individuality is respected and you can choose one or more of many paths, including Vaishnavism and Shaivism, and you will still attain the Lord, happiness, and salvation. He has many forms that appeal to devotees in different cases and can help in different situations--for example, if you are impoverished and starving, you could pray to Annapurna Ma, or if you need energy and courage to move ahead with life, you could pray to Durga Mata or Shakti Mata. God takes different forms and helps us in different ways when we need it.

This is really random and general, but I wanted to have a discussion, so here it is:
What do you think being a Hindu is about? What does being a Hindu mean to you? 😊

I was so happy to see this question and I was preparing myself to write a long essay, but I am happier to see such a brilliant answer!
@Anisha: You've summarized everything that I wanted to say =)
See basically from what I know/understand, there's one god yes, but 'rishis' gave us different forms of these gods because people from different background have different perspective so they relate to different forms of god. For example, a little kid or even some elders particularly like the childhood/baby form of lord krishna, or some women may look up to Parvati mata or amba ma for the ideal strong woman that they represent.

This is only to help us personalize or feel that personal touch of god and that is only possible if we can relate to a form of god, this is already so long, but that's why we have to the tradition/ritual of statues/pictures of god in the first place. Because it's always easier to concentrate (in this case, on god) if we have a definite picture in our mind and it's tangible which makes it feel real....

I am sorry if I confused you or anyone here😕

Hey, hi! Great response, I loved reading it 😊
That is true also--God in different forms also help us build ideals in different aspects of our life, like for older women to look up to Parvati mata to set an ideal to be an ideal mother, woman, and wife.
It was a clear and well-thought out answer, not confusing in the least. Hope to see you around here more and have discussions 😊

This is pretty much what me and a friend of mine were trying to tell her, but she snubbed us saying that if God can do everything, that all those people can just pray to that one source for whatever they need. This was well explained, so I think that the fault lies in her not caring to understand than me.

Thanks for the answer, it wasn't confusing at all. In fact, you've cleared a few of my questions, though my Muslim friend doesn't want to hear it anymore :s it was well thought out ;)
