LOL that's a good quesion 😆😆😆
Even in art school each dept is bizarre in its own way but u find all kinds of people here too... just that we see one and generalize everyone. People here tend to be following unconventional lifestyles.

I had already told u that i was stuck while painting the face... whenever i was seeing someone i was studying their face, shadows on face and what color composition they were 😆..... I had hard time concentrating while they were talking. Imagine, for just one painting I went this crazy and painters have to live with it all the times 😳😛 We just use wrong side of the brain, so please don't blame our actions 😆 😆

How can you change peoples attitude....and if you are thinking of fighting it develop a thick skin
Kerala is particularly horrible....

A girl child is born in Kerala, the people go...oh you have a daughter start saving up.
And it is so grasping and dirty, and dowry doesn't end with marriage...If your daughter gives birth to a girl child...bring in more gold.
I once asked Mr Veritas about it..he said if a poor workman gives .25 kg gold then his employer would have to top it...they may add a lot of copper in it...but still appearances matter...it is all social pressure. He knows because he has three older sisters and the remote place he is from ..sticking to conventions was the only way to survive.
And I have to say this daughters are a burden if you don't give them education and the wherewithal to survive on their own..and sadly that is the case in most of India...

Age, color, Appearance and other physical traits of a girl are also directly proportional to dowry. 😕

Nitz ji, how are you?? 🤗🤗

That is a nice painting. I wish I could learn, but my drawing skills are horrible to say the least. 😆
About dowry, I agree. I don't know what the solution will be. Just one of those social curses. 😕 Even here, people do give out dowrys. The money they give to the daughters, and gold plus other things they can afford also constitutes dowry, even when the groom's family may not outwardly demand it. It's one of those inherent things. They do it so that their daughters will get more respect in their sasural. It's sad, really.

At work and can't write big paragraphs, but felt the need to speak up before the question becomes outdated!!!

Here are exactly my two cents on the dowry system:

1. I would never marry Mr.Axe-to-be, if he ever mentions dowry even in his dreams…He's getting a wife who's well-educated, independent and will stand by him always, what more does he want???

2. I would gift my daughter enough on her wedding, if and only if I feel she lacks 'lokgyan', is vulnerable and might get into trouble later in the days. Everything would be in her name, with no 'Power of Attorney' transfers and she being the sole beneficiary. Hey…It's my gift and I can set the rules the way I want, can't I???

Does this even make any sense or do I sound retarded???

That is how it started Ekta ..Concern for children and ended up being a demand.

And how would you be able to make sure ur daughter doesn't transfer the funds /Property

A trust fund with lawyers would make more sense.

even educated and people make mistakes...what can you expect from the rural poor.
