Here is what I think. Now, I haven't watched it all. But I do ideally believe in a secular government. Theocracy scares me. My personal experience with this is Former President George W. Bush saying that God told him going to Iraq was the right thing to do. The whole special laws for certain groups and vote banks and the way they work in India irk me the right way. But then let's be honest, Madhu brought up an excellent point about how politicians vying for the support of certain religious leaders and paying them, thus gaining support is quite disturbing. What happens on the pulpit should be separated from politics. India when it gets to favoritism with certain religions from certain political leaders has led to disastarous consequences i.e. 1984, 2002.
Personally, I hate vote banks and the whole clustering of all votes to vote for one party. It should be on the issues, period. But then that never happens. People who feel marginalized vote very emotionally, hint protection. This is the same way people in America, who feared terrorism just voted for Bush to be safe because they were scared of everything. Or how in a church I went to with a friend for a research project, the pastor hinted indirectly how people in Washington need to stop the killing of the innocent. (Hint: abortion) In other words, I don't like when religious leaders endorse candidates or parties. They won't say anything about the war or death penalty.
Every political party in India has a problem. BJP has a tolerance problem, Congress has a dynasty problem and loves to pander rather than accomplish on the economic front, etc.
Also, I went to put a mud mask and just washed it off so that is my delay in posting. We The People always has alot of yelling. It has been awhile since I have watched this.😉
