Are we talking about Live-In Relationships ?Yes!
I am all for Live-In Relationships, but speaking realistically, they are not accepted in India. Marriage here is considered as a holy bond, and two people should not be staying together before they enter this institution. This is not a law legally, but it is being enforced by the society. That's right! I don't mind getting married, in fact I plan to do so next year ( only because it's not arranged ) 😆

I think the more stringent Muslim countries, such as Saudi Arabia, are the ones that probably illegalize live in relationships? It's going to take a long time for live in relationships to be accepted as the norm, if ever. I mean, holding hands is still frowned upon in India. I'm pretty sure only the elite and the celebs are 'liberal' enough to employ live in relationships?

anyways, im out fo sho

Maybe.but you dont get to know a person untill you have lived with him,if not this then its better you go for a blind arrange marraige, before love marraiges were also a big no no but now they are accepted by most of us.I know its still a drastic step. But if individuals and their family are ready then who is the society to interfere? Its better than you go for a divorce after marraige because when marraige is involved stakes are even higher, divorce is a painful and emotional step.

Yeah I've read the rest. The consequences are harsh, and sometimes fatal!

I agree it's the best compatibility test

Neeta, I'm with you on this one. I can never picture myself being married, I just don't agree with the institution as a whole. I want to discover what marriage means to be, rather than obeying what's been passed down as tradition.

To discover what marriage means to be, you'll have to get married at least once 🤣Whatever works for you. I wouldn't be so keen on getting married if it wasn't for the society + religion.

Rox - Saudi Arabia is an extremely backward country when it comes to women's rights. They still don't have the right to vote in some parts of the country. Let's not talk about how they are treated.
@ Elite & Celebs being liberal in India, that's not true. They might appear to be 'liberal' from the outside, but a few prejudices, reservations & Biases are woven into our society very intricately. Some people express them, others don't. But it exists everywhere.

I think I apply this concept to all my beliefs - Religion, God, Marriage, Education....etc.
Marriage as an institution has been degraded to the level of disgust. You don't know what politics runs behind arranging the so-called 'Vivaah'. I talk of only India, because I do not have the experience of living in any other society. Like I mentioned earlier, Marriage has now become a financial agreement between two parties with the stamp of society's consent on it.
