It shouldn't have been a surprise.
She should've seen it coming.
But as he stood on the railing of his balcony, all thoughts lost coherency. She could see his back and it terrified her. What was he doing up there? What was he planning to do? With each steady step she took, she hoped it wasn't what she thought it'd be. He wasn't that kind of a person. Never before had he shown any sign of such a weakness.
"Swayam?" She called out softly, wishing she didn't startle him.
He turned his head sideways, his back still facing her. His face was calm and devoid of any telling emotions. She saw a smile come up his profile as he acknowledged her presence, with an air of a person meeting a friend in the park.
He should've known she'd definitely come here, try to reach him, stop him from doing what he was never planning to do. He had seen it coming. Who wouldn't, knowing about her need to care for others, despite whatever pain others might have caused her. Somewhere, he was glad she was here, by his side, caring for him. On the other hand, he wished she would get a life and stop caring about the people who screw her over.
But then, you can't always get what you want.
She was unnerved by his silence. His profile in the moonlight told her he was in deep in thought, but she didn't know if his thoughts were in her favour. She wrapped her jacket tighter, in an attempt to ward off the chill freezing her very bones. Come on Swayam! Say something!
"Hi Sharon."
