Chapter 3Natasha knocked on the door and heard a faint yet stern voice, "Come in."
Natasha opened the door and saw her mother standing near the window staring out towards the skyline of New York City. Sanjana Malhotra's plush office was located on the 118th floor of a corporate business park. The view was the best part about this office, one could see the entire city from here.
Natasha walked in taking one last look at the cellphone and putting it on silent mode, her mother didn't like calls interrupting important conversations and today's conversation was very important for both of them.
"So how was your day?", Sanjana asked her when she heard her footsteps. She turned around and smiled and sat in her chair motioning Natasha to sit across the table.
Sanjana hated having conversations with her daughter in the office. She liked to chat with her over dinner or a cup of coffee no matter however busy she was. But today maa had called Sanjana telling her that Natasha had called her up to have a quick chat with her. After finishing her call with her mother Sanjana was wondering about the conversation when Natasha had called asking her for her time. Sanjana called her to office to chat up with her.
"Great mom. Met Jazz and the gang over breakfast and now we plan to go out for coffee in the evening." Natasha said dryly. She was a little worried as she knew her mother a little too well. Sanjana Malhotra never asked her how was her day! She just knew it that it would go awesome. Her mother was indeed in a bad mood.
Sanjana picked up the magazine kept on her desk and looked up to Natasha and said, "Are you sure you want to do this?"
"Yes mom. I am very sure about this", said Natasha
"Ok. you are an adult and I cannot stop you from doing anything. It is choice that you make. I will put you on to your father in Mumbai. He should know that his daughter has become big enough to take her own decisions." Sanjana smiled picking up her phone.
"Mom I am going there on a student's exchange program for god's sake! Will you stop over-reacting?."
"I am not over-reacting. I don't think this matter even deserves my reaction!." Spat out Sanjana with a firm voice.
Natasha knew this was coming and was prepared for an emotional outburst. She had spoken to naani and convinced her to call her mother and convince her to come to India. But now she thinks it was a wrong decision. She should have spoken to her mother herself and tried to convince her. This was heading no where and she loved her mother too much to hurt her.
Sanjana softened a little when she saw the emotion on Natasha's face change.
"Natasha I love you and it is just that I don't want to lose you. I have lost a lot in that country and I can't afford to lose you too. If you think you can survive on your own for 6 months in India you can go. But only on one condition."
Natasha was shocked that her mother agreed to it so easily. But she was not too sure what the condition was.
"Mom I love you too and you know it. It is my dream to go to India. My birth place and this is a great opportunity. That's about it. I am ready to listen to any condition you put forth."
Swayam was standing below Sharon's window and was wondering whether he should go through the door or the window.
"Door se chala jaata hoon. Window bahut predictable ho jaayega! But hold on door se jaane mein surprise factor nahin rahega. Window se hi chala jaata hoon."
Rey on the other hand was a step further! He had already climbed through Kriya's window using the pipe!
