~THE VIVID HUMDRUM~
She stared into her box, which stored all her memories, good and bad. Everything came back to her like a boomerang that was shot a minute ago. She remembered how everything settled and then dispersed and fell apart. Everything was so delicate like a piece of glass. She picked everything out, one by one, thinking of every possible moment.
There she found it, the one that made her tear on the inside. It started as a slow cry, but turned into a big sob. She couldn't hold back the tears while holding the photo in her hand, the one that showed them in the coffee shop. It was her and her boyfriend, or ex-boyfriend. She remembered when he had asked her out. It was the sweetest way anyone could ever.
She had met him at a coffee shop, while she was alone and wondering. He came and plopped into the chair across from her without asking if she was alone or with someone. He then stared at her and she looked at him with the confused look. He started the conversation with something so unexpected, it was hard for her to believe.
"The beauty is so captivating. One cannot deny it." She was lost in the moment, as well as in his eyes. "May I ask, where have you been all my life? Your eyes. Like diamonds in the sky, make even the stars and moon look dull. Your hair. So soft, making a big teddy bear look ever so rough and unpleasant." She gave him a smile, with a feeling of appreciation. "That smile. So bright, it lessens the brightness of the sun. The pearly whites, sitting inside your mouth, making everything look as if it had a shade of grey in it, as if they were the only white things left on this planet." She couldn't resist from giving a light giggle. "Your laugh. Making even the bird's chirps sound ugly and not wanted. Wow! I am mesmerized by the beauty sitting across from me, right now. I am speechless, seeing you was one of the best things that has ever happened to me."
This guy, one that she has never even seen, has taken her breath away completely. "I don't know what to say. Thank you but don't you think that is a lot to say just by seeing me?"
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make it awkward, I just lost my breath on seeing you! You define true beauty, and there is no denying in that." She smiled a smile so big that it made her cheeks turn pink. She thought happiness would be flooded into her life by this one guy she had just met.
She loved talking to him the whole day. At the end of the day, before saying good night to her, he proposed the big question. He spoke "Will you do me the honor of being your boyfriend? I know I'm not worth your love but I think I fell for you."
She chuckled, with a huge smile. "You never fell because I caught you ahead of time." He giggled one of the cutest giggles she had ever heard. "And don't you ever say that you aren't worth my love, because that is a complete lie. And yes, I would love to be your girlfriend!"
It was the cutest way anyone had ever asked her out. It was in a matter of one day that they got so close they decided to be more than friends. They had both agreed it was the best day of their lives.
She looked down at the picture in her hand and watched as tears poured down her eyes onto his photographed face. She wiped her cheeks with the back of her hand and placed the picture on the side of the box. There she spotted another one, of her and him. He brought back so many sweet memories to her. She got hold of one of the pictures of them at the beach, Venice Beach. It was their favorite beach in California. They went for vacation on their first year anniversary.
It was one of the best days in her life. They walked hand in hand after getting off his Ferrari GTE. It was a blue car, new and pretty. Everything was new that day, including him and her. She had on a pink and black bikini and he had on black trunks, which were new. She had been feeling good vibes throughout the day, and in the end she knew it was true. They walked with interlocked fingers to the edge of the shore. As the water rushed through their toes, he knelt down and pulled out a jewelry box from his pocket. "Sharon Rai Prakash," he started. He stopped to open the box. Inside the box sat a 16 karat silver ring, with five diamonds in the middle, shaped as a heart. It was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. "Will you do me the honor of becoming Mrs. Sharon Shekhawat?"
She was breathless. Once again, the same guy had made her dumb mouthed. She was completely lost in the moment and surprised. She couldn't do anything but jump into his arms. He lifted her up slightly and twirled her around. He put his lips by her ear and whispered softly "I love you," and gave a light kiss on her cheek. She blushed even harder and hugged him tighter. She just didn't want to let go of him that day.
That day, she claimed was the best day she had ever witnessed. She put down the picture and scanned through the other ones. They had so many pictures together, which symbolized every little moment they spent with each other. She finally found the picture of their last day together. It was a picture of them at their house, which was now his. It was night and they were at a party. It was one of the most fun nights they had ever had together. She remembered how he had bought her a new dress to wear for the party. It was a black and hot pink, strapless dress. He had always claimed that she looked super beautiful in any shade of pink. They were so happy that night but everything broke off the next morning.
They had been together for a good two years, until she realized he was a mistake. Not an ordinary mistake, but her favorite one. She never regretted saying yes to him, or even meeting him, like anyone else would. Instead, she thought of him as a mentor in her life. He showed her that there are such things as colorless colors, or a bright dullness. Sometimes, things aren't exactly how you want it to be. He had cheated on her, claiming that he had never loved her after they got married. She was being led on by the love of her life, the only guy she had loved with all she had. She thought that true love was real, but the tables turned on her. Her fate played a game with her, a very unpleasant one. She accepted her defeat and decided she couldn't deal with life anymore.
She got out her house and walked over to the Golden Gate Bridge. She stood there for a minute before she stepped up to the edge. In her mind, she replayed all the memories of them; everything, from the start to the very moment. Her head started pounding and she couldn't take it anymore. She lifted one leg, stepped into the blowing air and let herself drop into the water. She touched the icy water with her body and before she knew it, everything blacked out. She was gone. She had left the world, as an empty body whose soul had been longing just a little love from the one she loved.
