It was not so, each and every student was same and this rule was a part of discipline that need to be followed ,it was a "Sanskar" as i mentioned "Upnayan Sanskar" and it was meant for student life i.e after this act the student life begin so where is the question of Brahmin and Kshetriya , no matter if one want to enter in a student life rules must be followed.......even in modern times i.e the period of before independence this trend was followed by the schools of Banaras(U.P)😊 as mentioned by Martyr Chandrashkhar Azad to his friends , his experience when he went to learn sanskrit in Banaras( I read it in one of his biography and a book "Yash ki dharohar")😊
