Chapter 12 - It is a Bloom


Vishnugupt went to meet his lawyer Goyal Bhatija .Goyal was a leading lawyer in Delhi and runs a prestigious law firm called Brooklyn Firms. Goyal lounged in his seat at the garden table, with a couple of half filled wine glass before him.

Goyal"I believe that water is the only drink for a wise man. What is your take on it Mr Vishnu?"

" No doubt about it Mr Goyal." Vishnu sips his glass and looks around the garden."You are very busy these days. I had to wait for 25 long days to seek your audience!Which case kept you hooked so long.

Goyal" I had to appear for that millionaire's case. Ajay Swamy of Robin and Robin technologies."

Vishnu" Very tricky case Goyal"

Goyal"This my job to appear for all these cases. I am being paid heavily for this job." Vishnu nodded his head in agreement." Goyal, He just vanished after that scam as back in 2015. Is he settled in Ireland ?"

Goyal" Do you know he will never return back to India. "

Vishnu " Yes ,what about his employee and their future?"

Vishnu "If in case he marries and gets children through that marriage?

Goyal " They can claim rights on this property"

Goyal " Again ,minor cannot be held as a legal successor till he reaches 18. Until then nothing can be done. Goyal " But who pays tax for the Matrix. I mean who's name it is getting filed ?"

Vishnu sulks " Chandra's name"

Goyal " Bingo,he is recognized as a owner by eyes of law. Your case will not even accepted for initial hearing. Summarily dismissed". Vishnu bit his lips in anger.Seeing Vishnu's face

Goyal " Vishnu, can I ask you what bothers you?"

Vishnu explained his predicament. Goyal carefully listened to his worries and tried to alleviate his fears.

Goyal " Sir, your fear is having valid reason. If Chandra marries an affluent girl ,he will sideline with her and cause a problem to you.

Vishnu" Chandra is not interested in marriage and he wishes to remain single through out the life".

Goyal " And you believed him. Let me say you, his mother is my wife's distant relative.She had requested my wife to look for girls. Morni wants his son to have a wife as early as possible.She is a perfect blackmailer and she will make him accept. Later he will start to surrender to that girl. All biological process Mr Vishnu "

Vishnu " So ,my doubts are stronger now"

Goyal " Who is Nandini?"

Vishnu " She is at present working in Matrix under Chandra.She has all the qualities which we can be used to blackmail her. Her father is almost a pauper. The poor girl has lost all her money in his treatment. I have made a background analysis of Nandini's family. Her house and her father's saving has vanished in a single market collapse. It will take years for her to repay the debt as her father is going to be retired soon. That greedy fellow Padmanabh had took her salaries and invested in mutual fund . Goyal " How old is she?"

Vishnu " 23 years old and lovely homely girl. Morni and Preethi will like her .I am sure."

Goyal " Do you know the age of Chandrasekhar?.He is 35".

Goyal and Vishnu laughed quiet loud. Goyal poured some more wine in the glasses.

Goyal " Are you going to propose the marriage soon?Will that Greek girl allow?She is always head on heels for him"

Vishnu " Helen is a fool . I have a perfect checkmate for her.She will be shown her place if she revolts. Am I fool to bring Helen as his second wife? Never. As a matter of fact I don't like foreigners.(pauses) Everything has a time to strike Mr Goyal".

Goyal "If chandra starts to love Nandini after marriage?

Vishnu " Mr Goyal, I know to handle that situation. See ,real problem will arise only IF Nandini gives birth to boy. By the time I could have given her befitting place . Nandini will become my servant along with Chandra . "

Goyal " So it is Nandini vs Vishnu?"

Vishnu " Is that girl a match to me?. The game starts now Mr Goyal. What is your bet ?

Vishnu " This is a business motivated and forced marriage"

Chandra was waiting in the clinic of famous psychiatrist Sameena Bhasheer.A picture of a beach was sprawled on each wall, each depicting beautiful scenery: rolling waves on idyllic sand. There was a tiny black wooden coffee table holding health magazines. Underneath it was a dull grey carpet that covered the whole room. A television hung in one corner displaying boring commercials. Chandra was too anxious to read any of the magazines or watch TV, so he just tapped his foot impatiently,when Dr Sameena called him in

Sameena" Hello Mr Chandrasekhar. "

Chandra" Hello Dr Sameena "

Sameena" How are you Mr Chandrasekhar? "

Chandra "I am just fine"

Sameena" Ok, I am glad. Shall we start the session?"

Chandra" very well!"

Sameena " Chandra, How are you feeling these days? "

Sameena " Well, it is a lot better than brooding . Ok, what is your confusion ?

Chandra " I think I am cheating my wife"

Chandra " Whenever I think of her"

Sameena "On what plane do you think of her. As your friend or employee or lover"

Chandra " I don't know doctor"

Sameena " How she thinks about you"

Chandra " I don't know doctor. I have heard she is going to marry some boy . I am apprehensive that she may leave Delhi and go to her native place"

Sameena "Chandra,for past 1 year I am giving you counseling.For the first time I have heard you speak about a third person other than your mother or Dhara. I think it is a high time you make a decision . A life time decision. Why don't you talk to her?

Chandra " She is my employee . I cannot breach my limits on her"

Sameena " I see. But why"

Chandra "professional ethics. I cannot pop in and marry my own staff.That is a bad precedent.

Sameena "Leave all these ethics and employee. These are crap. Business and life are different. Do you know Obama and Michelle were working in same law firm when they fell in love. Chandra " No,doctor. I really think about her .I cannot get over it"

Sameena " Chandra it is crystal clear that you've got over it. You're happy in another relationship, and that wouldn't be possible if you hadn't recovered from her death."

Chandra " Doctor, are you sure I am not committing any sin?"

Sameena " No my dear Chandra. You are not committing any sin but you are trying to live your own life. Your first love is naive, innocent and docile. Your second love is grown, mature and strong enough to pass the test of time. At Coffee day (few days later in evening )

Chandrasekhar popped inside the cafe to have some coffee. It was quiet unoccupied despite being Sunday ." IPL blues " he thought and wandered around the cafe. His eyesight caught a girl sitting alone lost in thoughts. "Nandini,here at this cafe." Without any further thinking he went near her table and made a cough. Nandini noticed him only after few seconds. Her eyes were sulken and sad. As soon she saw him she stood up from her seat.

Chandra" This is not Matrix. Don't give me this much respect. I am feeling awkward.

Nandini did not reply.They both sat in the sofa and a waiter came and " Sir,May I take your order".

Chandra " 1 choco-latte with cream and Nandini what do you like to have"

Nandini " 1 coffee "when waiter went with his order Chandra started to talk "Nandini,it is a pleasant surprise to see you here.?

Nandini " I have come to meet my would be.He needs to speak about some urgent matter .

Chandra was bit disappointed to hear this from Nandini. He did not show it in his face.

Nandini"I did not expect you here?"

Chandra "I came to meet my friend Arjun. At last he canceled the plan, so thought of having small refreshment. I happened to see you"(pauses) Nandini did not reply .He continued

" Good Nandini,I am happy for you. Who is that lucky guy"?

Nandini" My father's friend' son Srivatsan. He is a lawyer in Sparsh. "

Chandra" So, you have said your consent".

Nandini" Who asks my opinion. (pause) she looked into his eyes " Who really cares to know my feelings . I don't know whether anyone know that I too have a heart . My father wants to finish off his duty and settle peaceful in retired life. Srivatsan s parents are not demanding anything from my father.My father's finance status has sunk deep into debts. He cannot afford my marriage expenses . His father promised to marry me for his son in a simple fashion and not expecting any gold for it.So my dad gave his word to him and expects me to say only yes. (pauses and sighed )Sir,do you know this is first time in my whole life my father is doing something without knowing my opinion or likes. I cannot blame him, he is pushed against wall.

Nandini eyes dratted few pearls . Chandra took a tissue from holder and handed it her. He never spoke anything. Waiter came with the coffee latte. They took the drink and were taking without any talks. There were some noise from the television and KKR lost to Mumbai Indians .

Chandra" Life and IPL are so quick . Look,how fast the game runs?"

Nandini continues" It is all meaningless to me now.(pauses) I think all these are quiet new to you. You are very lucky in one aspect. You could marry the person whom you loved and had a content and fruitful life with her. Everyone is not as lucky as your wife.Nandini stopped and started to look outside view. The street was busy with its inmates buying in shops.

Chandra took a deep sigh and after 5 minutes in a softer tone

"Nandini, no I am not as lucky as you think. Yes,I loved her but that was only after marriage. Dhara loved me one sided before marriage. Vishnu sir came to know her love for me and asked my consent. I gave in . We were married in a great pomp and splendor. I had no issues with her and I started to love her very much as the days moved. (pauses )To speak the truth ,even I was just like you quiet unhappy with the marriage.I thought my marriage is somewhat forced on me at that time. Later ,I thanked my stars for bestowing Dhara in my life. She was a Goddess of Luck to me.May be,after marriage you will start loving him.

Nandini did not believe his words" Sir I think you are trying to console me. I am not a fool to believe that you did not like marriage proposal with Dhara. I have seen her she was so lovely .Who will not love to marry her? "

Chandra "Nandini, you are so young and naive to understand these complexities of a relation.We don't expect only wealth and good physique in a marriage."

Nandini " It does not matter Sir atleast in India. Nobody really cares if bride could understand or feel anything. Everyone have their own expectation out of a marriage. Even in tv serial like Chandra Nandini, the marriage was always an politically motivated. King himself was forced on the princess who was his captive. Pathetic !

Chandra " Hmm.. Chandra Nandini name is very interesting and good to hear .Do you see that serial?My mom used to say that I look like the King Chandragupta Maurya. Chandra said with a pride .

Nandini " Sir,my life has now become a serial. Why should I see that serial."

Chandra looked into her eyes and "Nandini,I think you are in love with somebody. That's why you are not interested in that boy Srivatsan?.

Nandini " Sir , Forget it . Can earth and sky really meet. He is beyond my reach even though he is near me. This is the reality before me and a hard truth to digest."

Chandra " Nandini, my father used to say that earth and sky meet when it rains.Even today I believe his words . Distance is not a matter for two soulfully connected person.If your intentions are true,he will come to you.I am quiet confident about that.

Nandini " He does not even think about me. How can we soulfully connect?"

Chandra"This is your problem.You always ask question and will not wait for a reply. Do you really know that he does not think about you?did he say so?have you ever asked him?

Nandini " Why should he care for me?when all the wealthy and beautiful girls are standing in a queue to get his audience. Will he see me overlooking those girls ? Can a sun descend from a sky to help lotus bloom. Lotus blooms only in sunlight. Does sunrise happen for a lotus alone?

Chandra " Thats why people have created Surya dev temple to immortalize lotus and Sun's love. I have heard from my mother that SunGod loves to wear lotus. Lotus is must in the worship of Sungod.(pauses)May be he is a Sungod who waits for his lotus to come to his temple. Coming to those girls,beautiful and wealthy are mere adjectives . These does not reflect one's inner self. I think he would have chosen the real beauty over these adjectives. Who knows! I think he is also just like you. I must say he is a fool ,introvert who could not express him properly.He who thinks that he is quiet old to do all these things. He may also think that you will reject him as he is already crossed 30's

Nandini " Count me in. Even I am terrible in expressing myself. But I think love is not a commodity which we buy after testing . All these age ,wealth,social standing are immaterial to me. I will not go back for this trifle issues .

Chandra makes a serious face " It is a mystery how that company runs successfully by him. ?

Nandini with a smirk " Which company you are talking about Sir"?

Chandra " I mean big companies like Infosys,wipro ,tcs, cts, IBM...(pauses) Nandini turned her face in other direction. Chandra said " Matrix.. "

Nandini saw his face and he continued " Matrix's ceo is a fool,dumbo ,senseless maniac . I hate him very much. He always takes side with Helen and thrashes his..."

Nandini stops him " How dare you speak bad about him before me? By the way you did not complete the sentence ,His ?

Chandra made a smile and Nandini slightly smiled. He kept his hand on hers at that time waiter came with the bill. He instantly drew the hand from hers.

Chandra "It is very difficult to answer some simple questions Nandini"

Nandini " I am glad , that I found my answer. " Her phone rang it was Srivatsan.Chandra looked at Nandini as she took her phone.

This was your most important chapter till date in this FF and your best according to my personal opinion. The story has come a full circle. Vishnugupt wants to manipulate and take advantage of Nandini's dire straits and get her married to Chandra, But he does not know the undercurrent of what is bubbling up between Chandra and Nandini at a personal level. This was the first time both of them had some a sensitive and heart to heart talk between each other at the coffee shop. One can see the love overflowing between each other. At the same time, we see the insecurities and things that are holding them back from expressing it. On her side, their difference in financial status, on his side his guilt in cheating his dead wife's memories by accommodating another person in her space and almost forgetting her and the age difference between him and his new love. But when true love blossoms between two individuals, can anything keep them apart? So finally, Chandra and Nandini have figured out what they feel for each other and what the other feels for them. I loved it JK. Continue soon.

Chapter 13- Blossom

Nandini took the phone and Chandra was very attentive about what she speaks. He looked more tensed and desperate to know the matter. He plucked a rose from the table and started to tear. Nandini snatched the rose from him and " Do not hurt a flower".

Chandra " Did it tell you?"

Nandini " I can feel its pain ". Chandra was awestruck with Nandini's soft side. He never knew that Nandini was so soft and innocent like a child. In his office,he always saw her from a professional plane ,but now he is seeing her in a new angle.Nandini started to speak

Srivatsan " Nandini, Hello"

Nandini " Hello Srivatsan"

Srivatsan " Nandini, Where are you now?"

Nandini " Cafe day. You?"

Srivatsan "Can you come to registrar office now.I am waiting for you?"

Nandini "Are you mad.Do I drive an warplane?"

Srivatsan " It is urgent please come" he hung the phone.Nandini looking at chandra asked about the registrar office.

Chandra " Nandini, The registrar office is just few blocks from here. I know one shortcut. If you don't mind,I will lead you.Is he going to marry you now? Chandra waited for her reaction.

Nandini " I think you are more desperate to get me married to him.Did Mr Padmanabhan talk to you. Any way shall we start now".

Chandra and Nandini took a narrow lane offshooted from a main road.They were passing by many houses which are tightly packed with each other as though they were fighting for air,space. He pointed to a house in a lane. "Nandini,we used to live here in this house".

Nandini " Are you joking?"

Chandra " No, Infact I took my birth here only. "

Nandini understood how much Chandra treasures his past and its memories.

Nandini " You must have been very happy here ."

Chandra "undoubtedly. "

Nandini and Chandra were talking general topics about their childhood stories. To their surprise they both had a lots of common things. Both loved to eat gol gappas and Kolas. Soon they reached the registrar office to find Srivatsan standing with a punjabi girl. Both were dressed neatly and had a pair of garland with them.

Chandra hushed to Nandini " Looks like another tale of 2 states is going on"

Nandini " Yes, I think it must be Anitha".

Chandra " So you know that he was in love before ? why did you do that much acting in that cafe?"

Nandini " Srivatsan always took her name since he went to London.Never knew that he was in love with her. Looks like he too had an hidden agenda. " Nandini winked her eyes.Srivatsan welcomed them.

Nandini" Sri what is this? You never told this to me before? Do you have any idea how badly my father and your father are going to get hurt by your act?

Chandra saw Nandini who was shouting at the top of her voice. Seeing Anitha worried ,

Nandini " I was just joking Anitha. I am glad and happy for you both.

Chandra "Congratulations Srivatsan ."

Nandini "Sri,this is my boss Chandrasekhar Gupta.

Srivatsan "Is he the guy whom you always speak to me." Nandini gestured to stop ,but he continued " Sir,Nandini is always speaks about you. In fact she speaks only about you to me". Chandra did not reply and just smiled.
Srivatsan "Nandini,I am sorry.I cannot marry you.Though I said ok for our marriage. But that was before I went to London.I met my soul partner in England. My parents does not understand anything. So we have decided to get married .

Chandra "Does her parents know this elopement?"

Srivatsan " they belong to Sikh community. Her father wants Anitha to marry her uncle's son Dharam. She somehow escaped from their clutches. After marriage ,we are going to Pune.I need 2 witness for her side as nobody turned up for her. Can you sign and (looking to Chandra) Will you Sir.

Chandra and Nandini in unison " It is our pleasure Srivatsan".

It was 7 pm when Chandra and Nandini came out from the registrar office.
Nandini "It is going to rain"

Chandra looked at sky and " Looks like. Bingo see ,I did not bring my car also. We are trapped Nandini."

Nandini " we will go by auto".

Chandra "Ok,you wait in this bus stop and I will go and bring one. Just wait here."

Nandini looked around the place ,it was almost deserted. It looks like she was waiting at an odd time. Some rogue began to eve-tease her in the bus stop taking the opportunity of deserted road.

Rogue"Chikni chameli chupke akheli ..." he was singing some mean songs aimed at Nandini.

Nandini started to say prayers when Chandra came with an auto. He got down from the auto andwent to the thug" Kya bhai,Mein hun na,Mere man karta ki mein tumhe ab isi vakt pyar karroon,kya?( Hello Brother, I am interested to love you)" Chandra slapped the rogue with his force. Rogue" Maf kar do sab( He asked sorry)"

Chandra" Ask her ,and after that come with me mein tumhe sasu ma ki ghar le jata hoon"

Water started dripping all over her hair and it made her face wet.Her cloths she was was getting tight to her body. Nandini was looking more beautiful and serene in that golden neon street light. It was very tempting.Chandra did not moved his eyes from her. It was not that he has seen her before.He indeed had seen her many times and all those times she did not look so attractive to him.but today at that moment she was very attractive to him. He was stupefied and struck with a desire of love ,which he never felt for any other woman after Dhara.

Nandini" Sir.. Can I get in"

Chandra came back to real world " yes ..you can.."Both of them sat with a decent gap between them. Auto started at full speed and silence prevailed all through the way. Auto driver started to play FM radio.

Nandini went inside the hostel and got settled for night. After a second thought took her mobile and sent a message.

Chandra read the message and replied " It is raining here...

Both went to sleep . Atlast they could sleep peacefully after realizing that they are made for each other. Nothing can come in between them. They just need each other. Chandra and Nandini felt true meaning of love. Yes,It is devoid of lust,money and lies. It is as pure as rain drops. It was a blossom!

Helen as seated in her room in Matrix and was applying makeup and was examining her face before a mirror. "You look so sexy Helen.I love you ." She kissed her reflection and was making cute pout with her lips. Her phone made a noise and Helen took the phone
