After one week of doling out charming and cute episodes, CVs are back to their own game.

Today's episode soso. Not bad but not overtly charming - Some DDLJ copy in BC period. 😆

How many times CG will carry Nandini before he falls in love really ?! 😃

And read somewhere that a twin to Nandini is going to come ( AKA Swetha in double role). YAKKK .

Why the hell CVs do this kind of drama ? 😡

The serial CN belongs to Rajat Tokas . PERIOD.

In today also during the DDLJ scene, he brought in tremendous nuances and change of expressions at lightning speed. Layered and layered performance.

BRILLIANT BRILLIANT STUFF.

Akka - Both posts were wonderful . You brought out the longing feeling beautifully in that 3 minute sequence. This shows that CGM thinks more about Nandini and has observed her closely. He has made a distinction between Nand's daughter and Nandini as a person. That shows remarkable caliber and perceptiveness of CGM. His character so far has been structured very well.

Loved the comparisons to Jodha Begum kabhi galat etc. 😆 - That was a torture - In every episode he has to either find or recall one of her 4323 hunars you had listed. 😉

Here thankfully it has been the Pustak saga. I am waiting for the day when she will sing ( May be to put Bindusara to sleep) and CGM will discover her HUNAR number 2.

Your observations of Nandini not asking for Sorry for misunderstanding him was SPOT ON. CGM also does not expect it and nor us, the viewers. The girl has to walk a lot of distance for that. 😉

When this Jodi is settling down , what is the need to introduce a twin that too acted by SBP ? Hope there is no Pei Puduchify track down the line. 😉

Please take care of your fingers and shoulder. Do not bother about posts please.

Happy New Year to Aunty and others.
Thanks for the Dawn break aunty. It helped us in appreciating the finer points of the show. And the Higgins comparison was apt.👏 Chandra was exactly that in trying to pass off Nandini as a male student of the aashram. All through the week he looked on her like a scientist views his specimen in his initial stages of research. And was as unaffected by her personally as Higgins was, but is falling into the habit of her presence, again as Higgins ( of the movie) was.

(Speaking of the movie, i watched it just a few years ago after i saw the whole Jeremy Brett series of Sherlock Holmes, and found it incredulous seeing the inimitable Holmes serenading in Wimpole street! It took away a huge chunk of the elation the movie and Audrey Hepburn made me feel till then)

- It is Chandragupta who gives the bhashans - like the one about the need for the king to retain a sense of balance, and be ready to apologise to anyone he has wronged - and not, as is the SOP in an Ekta serial, the mahaan heroine.

And Rajat does it in a way that makes it sound hardly like a bhaashan. 😎Like he did with the sole bhaashan he was given in JA near the scales to encourage Jo to participate in the harem elections.

Nandini has not as yet branched out into this area, and I hope she never does. Chandra would tackle any such bhashans as might be forthcoming much better, and the hero will, for once, get some brownie points and a thin coat of gilt on his persona!😉

Fingers crossed. Also another plus about this Nandini is that she doesn't don the look of one just descended from the skies to give moksha to the ordinary mortals especially reformed sinners. She thinks over the minuses AND the pluses of her grinith pati. And is not blinkered. Even in the scene after blaming Chandra for trafficking daasis, when she learns the truth there is apology on her face if not words. They were better than the 'kshama keejiye Shahenshah' spoken in a speechy tone amidst preachings to a wounded man, wounded because of her and then the usual smug looks. And yes, Chandra can accept his faults and apologize openly. No wonder, he was his Guru's prize pupil and unified India's first Samrat.

The snippets you mentioned were delightful, esp the one in the sparingly equipped Snankaksh and the walk teaching scene. But what actually made last week doubly delightful was the absence of the irksome daadi except for a few shots following Dhurdhara's fall. The peeplivan part was the nadir of the show so far where it threatened to become JA -2 with hosanas sung by the family women choir.😡 The sole plus was that Nandini did not bask in the glory or add halos.

The Dhurdhara fall was very neatly wrapped up too.👏

Looks like Sunanda's secret is Nandini's twin.😲 So more twists to follow. Whatever, Rajat is exploring all arenas of emoting in the show and is coming out with flying colors.😃 So as long as this continues, Shweta stops looking like Dobby, ...err... tennis ball eyes i mean, Nandini continues to be not-mahaan, and daadi is nowhere in the picture, the show is worth each of its 20 odd minutes.

Then comes the core of what he is seeking to convey to her: Kyonki, Nandini, tum mein wo saare gun hain jo ek sampoorna stree mein hone chahiye..This too as a matter of fact statement, made as much to himself as to her. The recounting of all which he had admired and still admires in her, her loyalty to her loved ones, her courage on the battlefield and off it... Yeh sab ek achche raja ke gun hain..

The dialogues reminded me of some poem, but can't place exactly which. And Chandra's rendition too had a poetic touch. He had to express his respect without it slipping into admiration, express his regard without it having the slightest shade of romance, express his bitterness at someone who deserves his praise being a sworn enemy by the all-powerful fate without it sounding like a lament. All this with complete detachment and neutrality. Very few could have rendered it with such perfection.👏

It is a pity that his heroines are miles behind him in performance and hence we prefer him with the Chanakyas, Maham Angas and Abduls instead.

The swar change operation would have thrown an ENT specialist into a fit😉,

🤣

It is quite startling, the way in which he moves from a request for a tel maalish - for a moment I thought Dabur Amla had joined the list of sponsors!😆

🤣 And i almost was about to shout 'oh no! Not again!'

- to a display of such overt, effortless physical sensuality that no wonder poor Nandini must have felt the ambient temperature becoming uncomfortably hot! 😉

☺️😆

As she struggles and manages to break free of his embrace, the switch in Chandra's eyes, from the seductive to coolly contemptuous assurance, is more than dramatic.

Yes. It was an instant yet complete transformation.👏

This then is why he gets the idea of making her take the exam at the Takshashila gurukul, to divert her mind from the grief at the death of her brothers, and thus secure his own peace of mind.

Very perceptive.👏

Chandra's childhood had been spent seeing and feeling the pain his foster father inflicted on his foster mother. He had seen his mother suffer and weep. And detested the situation so much that he shut himself to love considering it a weakness. Perhaps Chandra could not bear to find himself as the cause of a woman's distress and sufferings. Although he convinces himself that she deserves it as an enemy who hurt him, yet perhaps it pricks him to be the cause of a woman's pain. He does have that basic respect for women that has been taught to him by a great Acharya as well. And he is basically good hearted. That is something that even his kingship and its various demands cannot alter.

In Nandini he also sees a woman worthy of his respect. ( of coure not his love as yet) She has abiding loyalty to her family (unlike Helena), her inclination towards education, warfare, her ability to feel for her loved ones, her being a trustworthy fallback like she was for Chaya wrt Satyajit...she is a lot like him.

I loved the Chandra-Helena confrontation. She is really in the right, and what he says in the end - that her revenge was over the minute he defeated Padmanand and Malayaketu and she thus became what she had wanted to be, the Maharani of Magadha - is a fudge. There was a second part to his agreement with her, to bring Malayaketu to her feet so that she could take her revenge on him, and this part has now fallen by the wayside.

He did bring Malayaketu to her feet once, but she let him escape. The deal was NOT to get Malayaketu to her feet again and again till she manages to kill him.😉

But Helena is a fool. Hardly a chip of her Aapama. She tried challenging him and dominating him initially. But he showed her who the boss is. Now she is attempting to woo him and pretend to agree with him in everything. But she only has to weep and speak senti dialogues and get things her way.😉😆

Aunty, no comments on Helena's attempt to dupatta-change for Chandra! 😆He has come a longway from the shy nervous Chandra at their wedding night and the nervous Chandra in the Snankaksh for the first time.

Today's episode

Tomorrow's episode

Just hoping that we are not subjected to a bhaashan on the samaantha of stree ( thankfully not istree) and purush adhikaar a la the samaantha of mandir ke shank and masjid ke azaan and there is no declaration of the discovery of Chandra's hriday. Is Nandini a lep-ist as well???😲
