The fact is that both of you were, and are, lattoo over Jalal, and can remember nothing but what you call his killer smirks.

Yes. We are.🤪
And i am still lattoo over Darcy, Rhett Butler, Vandhiyathevan and a few more. ☺️

I do not mind Chandragupta's soliloquies. They clarify his thinking, which was something I missed badly with Jodha. For example, it is clear from his self-talk that he is affected by the sound of a woman crying, irrespective of which woman it is. It is NOT some telepathic bond with Nandini!

🤔

Here, Rajat is exploring areas he could never do with Jalal. Chandragupta sees persons as they are and accepts them as such. The way in which he reacts to both Durdhara and Helena in the Monday (?) episode was delightful, especially the expression with which he tells Helena, about her becoming the patrani, Aur us se tum ati prasanna ho! He has weighed her in his mind, with accurate understanding, and docketed her away, but he does not sit in judgement over her. Not yet.

He is not to the palace born, and the habit of command is not natural to him. It will be fun watching him acquire it, like a butterfly emerging from the chrysalis. Tonight's scene with the visiting rajas was very entertaining!

It was.😆

Ah yes, Sandhya's comment about the bal brahmachari. Well, he has to grow out of that some time or the other, and he will, though he was still startled the other night when Durdhara hugs his chain mail clad form as she prepares to fall asleep. It was decidedly comic.

Actually it is a relief that he is growing up.😆

But as for Nandini, he has discovered the perfect way to humiliate her, and he drives the stiletto in and twists it with sadistic relish.I was quite taken aback to see Jalal stood on his head, so to speak! When he turns away from her finally, he looked like Dracula. They used to have handsome actors play Dracula, come to think of it.

Adi always harps on Rajat as Dracula. ( where is she, btw?)
Aunty too seems relieved that the ajeevan karavas was not a mirage afterall and the weepy Chandra was a one off incident. 😆 I was.

The aajeevan karavaas does seem to be a mirage, in the literal sense, that is. Not in the figurative sense, however, which was what Chandragupta made clear to Nandini tonight.

The curious thing there was that he seems to have somehow learnt that Nand had wanted to marry Mura and was constantly making overtures to her in prison. Though what he means about approaching his own, duly wedded wife with buri neeyat is difficult to make out. It is only Jodha who was the beneficiary of an open-ended, cooked up zubaan from Jalal that he would not touch her without her consent. Otherwise, the sort of thing that Chandra does tonight went with the territory once a woman was married, especially 2300 years ago.

Helena is getting to be dumber by the day. I feel sorry for her mother, stuck with such an unpromising pupil.😉 For now, she is able to crack the whip and make Helena jump thru hoops. but she will soon be climbing the wall in frustration.

As for Mura, the less said the better. This is what always happens to 'good" people, they get walked over by the likes of Helena.

But if Chandra had been around, Helena would have received a sharp lesson. That lesson will still come once Nandini is married to him. He will not tolerate Helena mistreating her, but will reserve that privilege for himself.

Helena's mother sounded positively clairvoyant about Helena's possible future if she did not grow up, especially the comment Magadh mein raja raj karta hai, rani nahin.

ok but they had some really good dialogues & performances...😳

Yes there was... And the approach was very realistic. Direction editing etc was perfect.
The opening was grand, so was the earlier episodes. I felt the script became stale in the last days, when they tried whitewashing the leads some times which affected the practicality... Maybe because I read the novel by then and had expected more higher...🤔.
But it had a class!😃

There is a disclaimer, Lavanya, only it is not read out. It can be seen at the beginning in all the repeat showings.

Do see my response to Sandhya and Lashy above. As for me, the first 2 episodes of Jodha Akbar almost drove me away, and even after I settled in, I never got around to liking Jodha. It was mostly the opposite, and once Jalal started mooning after her, he used to set my teeth on edge as well. I never warmed up to their so-called great romance. It was either tiresome or irritating or both.

At times, I did not do any posts for a week, and once for two whole weeks, mostly because I could not stand the episodes, and all this was before Episode 150. So what you say about the first 150 episodes being perfect is merely, at least for me, a kind of roseate hindsight. After the Mathura track, it plunged vertiginiously, as he became a complete joru ka ghulam. So you see, it was never really as good as it seems now, three years later.

As for Chandra Nandini, it is very early days yet. The only repeat-worthy episode in Jodha Akbar at this stage was No. 31, where he settles his marriage with Jodha, and here the swayamvar episode was excellent, as were the war scenes, not like what they showed in Jodha Akbar. But I do not have much hopes now of this heroine.

Let us see. Rajat badly needs this one to succeed, and I want it even more badly for him. If it fails, he will be the only one affected, not Ekta and not Swetha.

Thank you for all the very sweet things you have said about my Jodha Akbar posts, my dear.

Finally, Amina my dear, I was astonished to see you admiring Jalal's confidence in front of Bharmal. Confidence? He is the Shahenshah, and Bharmal is the defeated king of a tinpot little riyasat, so what is the equation between them? Bharmal should have been grateful for the extent of courtesy shown him!😉

Shyamala Aunty

oh yes Aunty jalal was haunty not confidant that was wrong of me yet he did not forget his manners it was more like bharmal in lions den but honestly no need to campare with ja jalal was jalal and chandra is chandra see how acahrya is teaching him how to sit like a king my wonder boy never cease to amaze me oh dear Aunty writing m slip ho gaya jese zaban phisal jati hai😳😆
