Disha my dear,
What a logical, sensible, beautiful post this is! 👏
But I think it will be wasted on many in this thread. I tried my best to correct some perspectives thru factual arguments, but it was not of much use. But what bothers me is the descent into childish invective.
I love Rajat for his ability to project nuances and his overall competence regardless of the role, and I say so. It is not only his body language, which is, as you have pointed out, distinct for each role.
As Kabir in Naagin, he played the
ichchadaari nevla as an animal which has transformed into a human being, but has not shed many of its animal characteristics. Most of the time, like with the
naagins, there is no trace of their
naagin side shown at all when they are women. I was very pleased with this understanding of the nature of the
nevla that Rajat brought to his Kabir. But I am sure very few understood that!
As you have noted, if one does not like a lead actor in a serial, then one lets go of his show, or at least of that forum Simple.
I do not like the heroine of Ekta's latest
, Pardes mein hai mera dil. But I do not go to that forum to proclaim how much she fails to impress me! For were I to voice my sharply negative views, it would hurt a lot of her fans, and I do not like to do that for nothing but to amuse myself. I let things be, and keep my views to myself. It was the same with the actors in so many other serials that I watched for short periods. I did not go to the Naagin forum to tell the folks there how I detested that serial.
If only everyone would do the same, a lot of mental and emotional energy would be conserved!

One thing I would like to mention. If playing historical shows (correction to those who do not know-mythology and history are two different words) is monotonous, then how is only playing 'modern' shows not monotonous?
The fact of the matter is variation is in terms of characterisation, not the environment in which the character is.
All of Rajat's characters were different in terms of behavior.
PRC was more or less Mr.Goody two shoes.
His next character Veer was a playful, charming boy who transforms into a responsible leader, when he realizes he is not of royal blood and considered a messiah of the harijans.
He then played Jalal, vicious and wile at first who has a change of heart over time. Jalal only had hatred for everything except power before but then he changes.
Now comes Chandragupt. He is the ideal student. Ambitious, very goal oriented. Doesn't like distractions. Considers emotions a distraction, but unconsciously understands emotions much better than others.
And please enlighten me,Nevla is a shape-shifter mongoose right? I'm not sure there is a specific way in which one can execute something which is imaginary. 😆
Not that anyone is interested, but he also has a different body language in each of the shows.
I didn't watch much of Naagin, because supernatural shows are not my cup of tea. I like historicals. And do maybe others like modern shows. Doesn't make any of us superior or inferior. When one doesn't like something, one just ignores it. Simple as that.
