You know, there are two characters in a famous Bengali Historical series... Kunku and Sadashiv. Sadashiv was a poor orphan boy who was a valiant young warrior(who joined Sivaji's troop), and Kunku was the daughter of a rich man, the one and only friend of Sadashiv... The first opening scene of Chandra and Durdhara made me remember them...😳 it was a beautiful literary touch by cvs... Hope these two remains the same till the end.😳

How can two people think so alike!😲😲
Is it because you and I are the only ones who have read this series... or our minds really click! I really really wonder if you are my hive mind?!😆

Not only were my thoughts in the same line as yours, in fact, after that scene, I was compelled to ponder, if one of the CVs had read Saradindu babu's books... I mean from Chandra's appetite... Durdhara and her strict rotund bellied father... to the possibility that he is probably a village headman sorta... it all matches!

I wouldn't be surprised... since Bengali novels/movies are so popular/novel/a class-apart...😃
But those who've seen Ashoka say the 3 girls here match the 3 girls there... (including Durdhara's family)🤔

Lashy...good write up, n mostly agree with you...😃
But m just worried about Durdhara...she has been shown as a daughter of a wife-beating father...hence, a lot of emotional baggage...hence, a husband-control freak...😆

It doesn't augur well for our very dear Chandra

This query reveals how much you've enjoyed her! As I had said, she is pretty in her own way and pairs well with Chandra... and her scenes are more enjoyable due to much needed simplicity factor ⭐️

Character analyses apart, here Nandini seems to be like that of Jodha... hate to love... though Paridhi was better stuff, despite her Bhashans! 😊

Helena, a probable Ruquaiya... she is just a little more brainy but her art of making a royal mess out of her rooms is very much in place 😉

And Durdhara, the sweet and loving Salima Begum... only tadka in the tale... she wants a Patni Parameshwar bhakt husband 😆

This time Ekta was probably impressed with not Baahubali but Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat serial. Ashok and Devi shared a similar friendship (that progressed so well that viewers rooted for their scenes together and wanted the heroine Kaurwaki nowhere on the screen.) which was unassuming, sweet and comfortable. Ashok too used to demand food from Devi whenever his mom was angry with him and she used to give him food without her dad and his mom knowing it.

It makes a massive difference Sandy... seeing something first and then a copy of it later...
no wonder we're all more impressed than you sound at the moment!

It's amazing how Chandra has brought a subtle difference of emotion, when in the presence of the three (about to be) main women in his lives -

With Nandini, it's primarily annoyance and indifference at this stage. and some anger too as Nand had declared that it was her smartness that had exposed his facade at her Swayamvar.

Yes

With Helena, it's been symbiotic, a welcome dependency, a mutual understanding that involves no one else and the slightest bit of admiration too lately - he knows she's smart and not one who would be taken advantage of (maybe because he's seen his mother and even Durdhara's mother being whipped by their husbands)

But he had witnessed Nandini's bravery too at Magadh. 😔But yes. Helena's spirit is something else and the actress is performing well though i was very sceptical at the start.
Bravery that materialised into what? Once she had to be taken to her bed... other time, she left khoon bhari maang 😆

Chanakya had done well to build up the suspense and curiosity by not revealing Chandra till the nth hour. Curiousity overcame scepticism that kept together the army of assorted men which wouldn't have been possible otherwise.

You Granger-with-the-words! 👏

The introduction was excellent. Like a simple elegant outfit against a gaudy chamak dhamak wala stuff. He looked every inch a lion in authoritative splendour. In a minute the little remaining doubts that stayed on inspite of Chanakya's persuatioms in the minds of those people would have surely vsnished. RT was fabulous( but then what is new about it?😳)

of course!

All in all, the best episode of CGM yet!

I would rank it second after the Swayamvar episode - mainly because of RT's sheer star presence and magnificence of that episode.

As a scene that was amazing... and I loved RT in that episode.. but other things that led up to it left me feeling a little 'meh' I guess that's why I liked this one more..

Actually Khushi, she seems to have taken it all in the right spirit... she jokes about patni parameshwari, but she is happy to take his plate from him... and pour water to help him wash his hands...
She doesn't look like damaged goods... she's alright with Chandra saying there can be nothing between them (which many girls' egos might take wrongly) and she's able to accept what Chandra says about her father (which is not kind) she's bindaas!

Maybe she lacks the fire that Nandini/Helena have... but she seems like the yin for his yang at this point...no? 😳😉
