Mohit Raina looks older than Sushim, older than Dharma, older that Bindu too. He ought to have been cast as Chandragupta Maurya in the show, not as Ashoka.

And now, Kaurwaki is gonna be the bashful shrinking violet to Ashoka's Nora Roberts-esque hero.

@Bold : Bulls Eye Krystal. You are so right. 👏 I felt exactly like that. This is not chand but a classic M&B/Gul Khan angst filled angry young man with a good heart and a dark painful past. 🥱😆
I guess the Dvs dont want to lose a particular set of fanbase which has no place in a historical IMO. 🥱
Before the leap they were the same, after the leap they are still on the same track. How we wanted a brutal merciless ruler who created ashoka's hell and instead we are getting a devdas. 🥱

Well that was a disappointing week! They didn't spend too much time with the casting, did they?
Mohit looks just too bulky and even older than Dharma or Sushim, like so many have pointed out before. But you what, that's not even the worst thing, Asohka the younger kid anyhow, was all about this athleticism and given that he should have been someone with a leaner much smaller frame that would fit...Mohit just looks like a giant! Not working out for me yet.

Hi everybody,

I know I've been missing -- was busy at work -- and many, many thanks especially to Maddy for remembering me.

I missed a lot of episodes towards the end but caught up with the last few.

Siddharth Nigam was mind-blowing and wish he'd been given a little more space and time to do the Chand stuff.

Mohit Raina is truly underwhelming. Just cannot connect him to the livewire-powerhouse that was young Ashoka. Sid was an effortless performer and managed to be charming, vulnerable and impulsive all at once.

Raina's angry old man stretches credulity. Just how did 14-year old Ashok turn, ten years later, into a 35-year old grunting, groaning beast? And the less said about the costume, the better.

BeingBlunt: How did you miss Tamanna( 10 pm Star Plus ? It is all about cricket and they actually play the game. You must watch the relationship between young Dhara -- the female lead -- and her father who trains her to be a state-level cricketer. The early episodes -- featuring the dad-daughter's cricketing escapades and their bitter-sweet relationship with the grandmom-- were especially brilliant and do catch them on the net if you can. It's a straight, gimmick-free narrative and I sometimes rub my eyes in disbelief at the guts of the producer-director to do an old DD-type show in Ekta maiyya's era.

Btw, I watched a bit of EK' shows -- and by God, has she changed!!

The multiple bindi, overly affectionate mother-in-law, who simpers all over her daughter-in-law and calls her 'beti' -- reveals herself to be the actual villain. And what's more laughs her head off at outwitting everybody. Two sisters who loved each other to death fall out over their common lust for the husband of one. Totally unpredictable stuff.

In another show, the female lead dies for the fifth time -- and finds herself in Australia with a brand new family. Her step child also lands up in Australia -- as do her husband and another child. They are in the same hotel, attend the same events and endlessly brush past each other to soulful BG music. The step child changes gender and assumes a new name -- all of which makes me wonder: are there no police verifications down under?

Yes. Pretty obvious, isn't it?

In this age of high alerts and tight security, how do EK's characters change name, nationality and now even gender? And why does the estranged female lead always end up at some far-off place with a random family where she quickly becomes mother to the daughter and love interest to her father?

And why is the estranged male lead never anything but a rude, angry business tycoon who is always shouting orders into the phone about winning one or another important deal?

But her viewers obviously haven't tired of the one-trick pony, judging by the number of fan fiction on EK forums -- and judging by the soaring TRPs.

The best thing about this forum was --and is-- its cerebral members. I loved the lampooning you guys did of the characters and I loved it even more that there was no romantic fan fiction or imbecile fangirling. (Of course, things changed with the appearance of the utterly unbearable Kaurwaki but that didn't unduly affect the forum.)

I loved it that someone like Babur wrote history-based fan fiction that was better than the actual show ( Babur I read most of your posts except the last few) 😊

Good to have you back Rohini. The lack of saner heads was pissing me off.
Now if only Medha would come back for a bit.

And I agree with BB. Fans who enjoy the nonsense they are showing(Devdas and belly dancing) have no place in historicals. They would enjoy anything labelled love story.

If Kaurwaki was shown as a prostitute and Ashok was shown as sleazebag vagabond pining for her they would enjoy that too.

I am going cut Mohit some slack. It's up to the director to get Mohit up to speed. I don't have an issue with his appearance per say. I just don't like his body language.

Post leap we should be seeing a vengeful Ashok plotting for revenge. Gathering his loyal army to take over Patliputra to fulfill Chanakya's dream. I was actually expecting that. The very premise of Chaand Ashok. His unending desire for power. Not his pining for Kaurwaki.

Bindusar looks pretty good. He has actually become what I expected Ashok to be. 😆

Instead we get this nonsense Devdas. Come on CVs cut the King some slack atleast. You can do your romantic nonsense with all your other shows. None of us cares.

👏
Exactly: From unbearable Kaurwaki jr. to unbearable Kaurwaki sr. please CVs, cut out the romance and give us some real history.

For your sake Babur, I hope Ashok Mohit shapes up. He's too much brawn right now which is very distracting.
