Okay, confession. As much as i want to know from the writing team that why Helena aunty is negative or why she is a Mom or who Justin is ( wasn't the Greek princess childless when Chandragupt uncle picked bairaag?) or what is the deal about Ahankara / Asandhimitra/Devi and jazz , owing to the little bit of history that i know , i have to say this that little Sidster is a POWERHOUSE of talent.

I don't think the kid is more than 13. Is he? Surrounded by such veteran and awesome actors, the boy totally grabs your attention. He has an amazing screen presence , more than decent dialogue delivery , a very flexible face cut that helps display both the angel and the devil ( quite like Ashoka's character in history even though his angel wings came late... ahem, ahem), and he looks every bit a ferocious warrior and a leader.

No matter how weak or strong the script is, sometimes i let even utter choke-in-the-throat go only because Siddharth is convincing in the act. The best work the team has done in this show till now is casting Siddharth as the young version of Ashoka.

Earlier, i felt the boy comes across as too cocky and oversmart but then, how much do we know of Ashoka, except that he was an avalanche of a king who rose to power through bloodshed, calculation and ambition. Who knows what a little devil he must have been?😆

Anyway, just wanted to appreciate this little bundle of talent as he is actually setting a benchmark and a standard to match for the actor who plays grown-up Ashoka. Seriously. This attitude , aura and quickness of character and acting has to be carried forward. I hope the actor is shown these episodes.

I am not a regular viewer of this show but when Siddharth or Manoj Joshi are on screen, i catch their scenes. What performers and they are given the best lines, the best range IMO.

Little Ashoka , irrespective of the faults in script or botched history shows all signs of being the Chakravartin that Ashoka was and is in history. Great work, little one and at 13/14/15, you are truly a star.

The producers of this show have picked a leviathan from history to make a show on - Ashoka. A king whose weight can be felt everytime you look at the lions of our emblem, and more than that a king who was a confusing mix of good and evil. How much justice they can do, i don't know, but we need an exceptional artist to play adult Ashoka.

P.S- I hope the makers know that they need to cast an actor with light brandy eyes or at least provide him with the lenses. 😆

Mallika Aaliya its you! *jumps and jumps and falls with a thud*
I must confess I had wanted to read your view on this series, you just bring out a facet that had been ignored for so long. I was impressed with Siddie boy with his potryal of Rudra in Mahakumbh...as Asoka he is even brilliant. A 15 year old and such amazing performance. No wonder he is hailed as the wonder boy!

Now the series; well the story is being written by Ashok Banker that amazing man behind the books flaunting historical and mythological fiction with style. So it is a historical fiction. So distortion and (brace your self) "Natakiya Rupantar" are very much part time of the parcel.

Helena/Cornelia/Indica was indeed childless and if she indeed had a son, then he was younger to Bindu darling in age. And as far as the wives of this man is concerned then there seems to be a divided edge. The translations of Asokavandana that I read had indentified Devi and Asandhmitra as one. But I also read other papers that put these two as different women. No issues there for Abhay (history_geek) is out on a research!

P.S. It is great to see you Mallika Aaliya! Nacheez ka salam qubool karein!!

Qubool hai, qubool hai, qubool hai. Humein aapka salaam qubool hai. Abb aap hamaari jhappi qubool karein. 🤗

Siddharth is truly a discovery and do we thank Adi Chopra ka casting deptt for this? 😆...As portrayed by the kid, i see all signs of Ashoka in him. I hope the adult version carries on the baton or else am leaving when Sidster leaves. 😆

History and its distortion are irritating but i understand that drama is not written in history records , so it needs to be created , so i will rakkho dil pe patthar and watch it until it becomes ridiculous like another show that shall not be named. 😆

I think most records elevate Asandhimitra as Ashoka's beloved childless queen consort. Let's see which version the makers follow. 😃

Thank you and so true. Sidster has set a standard for Ashoka's character and its not going to be a cakewalk for the adult actor unless he is simply kickass. The boy maybe 13 but he makes you feel the enigma that Ashoka must have been.

So, yeah... Casting Department... WATCH OUT. 😆

Sid stole my heart in MK , his portrayal of young Rudra was hauntingly fantastic. There were lots of silent scenes of Siddharth , where he did wonders to portray a series of expressions through his eyes only n his subtle wonderful shift of facial muscles , I'd goose bumps watching it. It was unbelievable that such a yound kid is delivering such heart wrenching magnificent performance. He's born star , a natural show stealer.
Here in CAS also , he's outshining every actor in every episode. It was like predestined that the role of greatest emperor of the world will fall in his lap n he'll convert himself into Ashok. Really, where does Ashok starts n Siddharth ends ?? He's Ashok through n through.
And the words you wrote about Ashok were so right n appropriate , glad to see at least a members are doing some back ground studies on Ashok, or else it some times makes me think how little aware we are of our glorious past , our grand legacies our greatest heroes. May be we are truly a race that forsakes their past..
Ashoka is with out doubt the greatest hero of India. That's why Ashok n India are like synonyms. He was the living avatar of India's soul. He had made India n Indians proud , n now Sid is making us all proud.
Congratulations on such a fantastic post.
