What a pleasant surprise to see you here my dear 'history geek ' 🤗
Eagerly waiting for your post. Also I said many times in the main forum that CVs may be planning to show Ahankara as Asandhimitra. There were subtle signs and indications showing that from her very first interaction with Ashok only.
Yes, they had shown her having a sort of crush on Sushim and very brief ( and superficial ) romantic angle with him.
But even Jodha had a sort of attraction/fondness for her first fiance Suryabhan. It's quite a popular ( sometimes annoying ) habit of CVs to show the female lead having a previous likeness/attraction with another guy.. while having a 'ghrina' or hardcore enmity with her actual hero in the show. Kuch yaad aya? 😆

Hi abhay.. i jsut wnted to say ur blog of history is fab! thank u for takin ur time n writing it n giving us the right info. but about this Ahankara thing i wanted to ask u a ques... if u dont mind, the question is

Couldnt it be disrespecting to the history if they showed Ahan as Ashandi? Becos as far as we no NONE OF THE WIVES of ashok have every flirted with sushim or had relationship.. as ashok hated sushim so much. n if u havent seen in the show it showed tht ahan and sushim almost kissed. n the real ashandi could never do tht. if they had shown ahan as ashandi in the first place i think it could been better... bt wat do u think??

Hi buddy,
Thanks for the feedback about the blog. I am glad you enjoyed reading it.
May i know your name ?

I have not watched the show for a long time. Hence, asked the question, which was answered by Maddy. As far the show is concerned, it seemed to me, they may transform Ahamkara into Asandhimitra. This is just a guess. Not related to history. I don't know what is happening right now.

Coming to the point. What you say is right. This is not only related to Sushim and Ahamkara, but a generally accepted norm. Certain things do not befit royalty. And your comment is in complete accordance with those protocols.

From what i have read till now, Asandhimitra had a very important place in the life of Ashoka. Her image comes across as that of a very responsible Queen.

But, when it comes to telly shows, we really do not know what they may show under the creative license. Have learnt a lot from an earlier show. ;)

Only good thing i find about these 'historical' shows is that, they create curiosity in us , so as to know, what the REALITY was like.

Hey Mac,
So you are also watching this show. Nice to see you, Maddy and some other old buddies.

Yes, i do remember Jo-Surya angle. And the same, seems to be the case here, for Sushim and Ahamkara. Will be posting about the wives, as soon as i get time from other activities. :)

I will be adding slowly.

BTW, CAS is better and i must say enjoyable compared to many other shows in my opinion. The intelligence of main characters is not compromised at least. I used to watch in starting, regularly, then i stopped in between. But, as long as Chankaya & Ashoka are presented with brains, i admire it.

Till now, it has been going good, overall.

Abhay,
Not just main characters. All characters mostly are believable and not overtly dumb. And they all have something to do and say. Otherwise in most shows, the protagonist does everything and the others are just glorified set pieces.
