Three Aces- Aamir, Akshay and Abhishek in October

View Aamir Khan Visits Winners Office Picture Gallery
The festive month of October, which reaps the maximum harvest in terms of box-office rewards, appears to be getting crowded with each passing day. As we had already told you, both Aamir Khan and Karan Johar are eyeing an 'Eid- Dussehra-Diwali' month release. The latest to join the fray and give them company is the 'Hit Machine', Akshay Kumar.

Before any confusion arises, the movies that we are talking about are, Aamir Khan's, still UNTITLED, GHAJINI remake and Karan Johar's Tarun Mansukhani project with Bobby, Abhishek, John and Priyanka. And now, news from the trade is that Nikhil Advani's, Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone martial art thriller, CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA too is slated to release during the same festive period.

Seems to be a repeat of last year, where the festive period saw a number of biggies clashing. Nevertheless, an interesting scenario, and with sufficient capacities at the cinema halls, it will be the viewer who will emerge the winner, as they will have a wide variety to chose from. So here's wishing the best to all the three movies.

With Aamir Khan's Taare Zameen Par appealing the masses, the actor has surely made an impressive directorial debut. The sensitivity with which he has handled the subject is worth appreciating. However, one of the forwards related to the film being sent around on emails talks about what TZP would be like if the film was made by some other Bollywood filmmakers.

If Karan Johar made Taare Zameen Par

Obvious starcast: Shah Rukh Khan as the arts teacher (duh duh duh!!), Aryan Khan as the dyslexic child (even if he could not act for nuts), Rani Mukerjee as the kid's mom (assuming Kajol is unavailable) , Abhishek Bachchan as the kid's dad, Amitabh Bachchan as the school principal (who cares if the role is ultra minute, he can afford it).

It would be shot in New York to appeal to the NRI audience. 😆

The story line would obviously be different. SRK would fall for the dyslexic kid's mom. The last scene would have the mom running to the teacher rather than the kid. And again, like in so many other movies, SRK would get someone else's girl.
😆
It would have one dance number.

The film would be titled 'Kuch Taare Zameen Par'

If Sanjay Leela Bhansali made Taare Zameen Par …

Obvious starcast: Salman as the teacher😳, Rani as the mother,

Of course the whole film would be shot on elaborate sets. The school would be nothing short of Harvard University.

An orchestra would play every time anyone cried.

Slow motion, different camera angles for every scene.

The school uniforms would match the classroom walls even though that does not make a f***ing difference.

The film would cost INR 60 crores.

If Farah Khan made Taare Zameen Par …

Obvious starcast: SRK as the teacher (yawn),

In the original TZP, Aamir makes an entry at the interval point. In Farah's version, SRK would be on screen on for 2.30 hrs out of the 2.45 hrs and would be introduced in the first scene itself.

The story would be changed to make sure the above happened. The focus of the film would be a teacher who helps the kid fight dyslexia.

To make it a complete entertainer, there would be a romantic angle, comedy, and action thrown in. Oh idea!! Nikumbh's character likes another teacher and the kiddo helps him… throw in some comedy moments there and you have romance and comedy settled.

For action… hmm.. lemme see.. Oh yah, the kid gets kidnapped and the teacher fights the baddies to save him. Wow!! I'm quite an imaginative writer. I can see how Farah can write a film from scratch in two weeks straight.

The film posters would have a big SRK with the tiny image of the kid in the background.

If Rakesh Roshan made Taare Zameen Par …

Obvious starcast: Hrithik Roshan as the teacher,

Since Rakesh Roshan cannot think beyond science fiction these days, this film would have that too. Instead of dyslexia, the kid would have alienositis😆 or something, a condition induced due to him witnessing an alien abduction.

Instead of Nikumbh being an arts teacher, he would be a physics teacher, and instead of asking kids to be creative, he would ask them to challenge the science we know.

In the scene where Nikumbh asks the kids to open their minds and make whatever they want outdoors, the kid Ishaan, instead of making a boat, would end up making a working spaceship prototype.

Nikumbh would cure the kids problem by making a full fledged version of the kid's prototype, traveling to the alien planet, and asking them to give the kid his powers back.

The film would have music by Rajesh Roshan ripped off from some world music.

The film's name would again start with a K probably 'Kuch Aliens Taaron Se Zameen Par'.

The director would make sure Hrithik gets to show all his abilities. This would mean a scene with Roshan Jr flexing his muscles and a dance competition in the end, instead of an arts competition.

If Priyadarshan made Taare Zameen Par …

Obvious starcast: Akshay Kumar as the teacher😳, Paresh Rawal as the kid's dad.

It would be a brainless comedy. The kid's dyslexia would be made fun of. Half the times the parents will be running after the kid from one room to the other and that, in the director's opinion, would be funny.

The film will be full of sex jokes. So for example, when Akshay would come to the parents telling them that their son has dyslexia, the ignorant father would say something inappropriate like 'iss umar mein? par kaise, woh to hamesha boys school mein padha hai!'😆. And yes, the director would think it is funny.

In the climax of the film, all the characters in the film would run around in the amphitheater for no reason, spilling colors on each other. That's where the film will end, without any logical conclusion.

And of course, Paresh Rawal would emote like an epileptic himself, making us question the boy's mental abilities anyway.

"Getting Singh Is Kinng was easy" - Anees Bazmee

By Joginder Tuteja, January 9, 2008 - 15:33 IST

Within a fortnight, Welcome has gained a blockbuster title for itself and if it continues the same way at the box office for another fortnight, it would well gain an all time blockbuster tag for itself.

"Entertainment is a clear winner here", exclaims director Anees Bazmee who is now one of the hottest (and most consistent) filmmaker on the scene after two back to back successful films - No Entry and Welcome. "The idea was to make sure that audience is thoroughly engaged and entertained as the lights go off in an auditorium. The film has spoken for itself and audience's love and appreciation has pleased me no end."

A story goes behind the title of Welcome. Apparently, after No Entry, Welcome was considered as it's antithesis. To Bazmee's pleasant surprise, no one else had registered the title when they thought of Welcome.

"After the success of No Entry, majority of films were made with an English title. We guessed someone might have already picked up the title but to our pleasant surprise that wasn't the case. We got the title without any hassles", remembers Bazmee.

"Same happened in case of Singh Is Kinng", adds Bazmee, "Even though the title was innovative, you never know if someone else would have thought about this as well. But yet again, getting Singh Is Kinng was easy; the title was readily available and we grabbed it with both hands."

Currently busy getting Singh Is Kinng towards the finishing line, Bazmee has already shot more than 70% of the film. "Only the last schedule of the film remains post which the film would enter it's post production stage. We are all set for bringing the film out on 15th August. Going with the Indian feel of the film coupled with the Independence Day release, Singh Is Kinng should also win the hearts of Indians worldwide. And if international audiences also get attracted to the film, how much better it could get than that?"

Produced by Vipul Shah, Singh Is Kinng is yet another biggie for Bazmee with his Welcome jodi of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif coming together yet again. Neha Dhupia, Javed Jaffrey, Ranvir Shorey, Himanshu Pandey, Om Puri and Kamal Chopra form rest of the star cast.

Top 10 Films (Welcome and Taare Zameen Par are expected to finish in positions given)

1.Om Shanti Om-Blockbuster

2.Welcome-Blockbuster

3.Chak De India-Blockbuster

4.Partner-Blockbuster

5.Bhool Bhulaiya-Super Hit

6.Heyy Babyy-Super Hit

7.Taare Zameen Par-Super Hit

8.Jab We Met-Super Hit

9.Guru-Hit

10.Namastey London-Hit

Top 5 Actors

1.Akshay Kumar-Extraordinary year, probably the best ever recorded by an actor with four outright hits and no flops. Welcome, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Heyy Babyy and Namastey London all score.

2.Shahrukh Khan-With two Blockbusters in Om Shanti Om and Chak De India it looked like King Khan would have been top in 2007 but Welcome right at the end of 2007 gave a slight edge to Akshay Kumar.

3.Salman Khan-Huge success with Partner. The poor business of delayed Marigold and Saawariya which sees him in a special appreance do not affect his solid position.

4.Aamir Khan-Scored with Taare Zameen Par right at the end of 2007.

5.Shahid Kapur-Jab We Met is another huge hit after Vivah in 2006. His other release Fool N Final manages coverage in a few circuits.

Top Actress

1.Kareena Kapoor-Jab We Met is a Superhit and after a long time a film is a big success where the heroine is the main reason for the success of a film.

2.Vidya Balan-Three winners in Bhool Bhulaiya, Heyy Babyy and Guru but Salaam-E-Ishq and Eklavya fail.

3.Katrina Kaif-Is the lucky mascot of the industry. Welcome, Partner, Namstey London and Apne are all winners but apart from Namastey London the roles are small.

4.Deepika Padukone-A great start with Blockbuster Om Shanti Om and expected to be a big star.

5.Aishwarya Rai-Has a hit in Guru but the heroine orientated Provoked is a big dud.

Akshay Kumar And Sanjay Dutt In Blue

Wednesday 2nd January 2008 18.30 IST

Mohit Sharma

Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt have been signed by the Ashtivinayak banner to feature in a tentatively titled film Blue. The film will also feature the Om Shanti Om heroine Deepika Padukone opposite Akshay Kumar and the search is on for one more hero and heroine. Blue is expected to have some breathtaking stunts.

It seems that Khiladi Kumar is going back to action in a big way, after delivering four comedy/romantic hits in 2007, we will him in at least two actioners Tashan and Chandni Chowk To China next year with Blue to follow.

This is the second time that Akshay and Sanjay will appear in a film together. The first was the long delayed Amaanat directed by Raj N Sippy which was released in 1994. Amaanat did not do too well at the box office after a decent opening.

Akshay Kumar and Shahrukh Khan are on a dream run at the boxoffice. Both actors are giving consecutive outright hits like very few before them.

Akshay Kumar is on five consecutive outright hits with Bhagam Bhag, Namastey London, Heyy Babyy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Welcome.

Shahrukh Khan has a run of four consecutive outright winners starting with Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and then followed by Don, Chak De India and Om Shanti Om.
The star they trail is Rajendra Kumar who gave a record six consecutive hits starting in late 1963 till 1966. The films were Mere Mehboob, Zindagi, Sangam, Aaye Milan Ki Bela, Arzoo and Suraj. Both Akshay and Shahrukh have chances of matching this record or even amazingly surpassing this 40 year old record.

Akshay has Tashan and Singh Is King as his next releases while Shahrukh Khan will most likely star in untitled ventures from Dharma Productions and Yashraj Films.
