Telugu star to take on SRK

Narayanamurthy is a popular face in Telugu cinema known for his revolutionary brand of films that tilt towards leftist ideology is a huge name in Telugu films.

Now he is making his first Hindi film Yeh dharti hamaari that is a remake of his 1994 Telugu superhit, Erra Sainyam or Red Army.

"My subject is linked to human emotions. Like Dilip Kumar's Ganga Jamuna, Amitabh Bachchan's Ganga ki Saugandh and Mother India. My subject is how rural innocent people are feeling, how they are exploited by the non-tribals," said R Narayanamurthy.

Narayanamurthy's film releases on the August 10 and will pit itself against Shah Rukh Khan's Chakde India.

"Shah Rukh Khan is the megastar in India. In Andhra, they call me people's star but I know I am a zero in Hindi. But when thousands of people go to see Shah Rukh Khan's film, there will be many who do not get tickets. I hope that overflow will come to my film," Narayanamurthy added.

In an industry, where there are less hits and more misses, 12 of Narayanamurthy's 19 films have been huge hits, raking in the moolah in the B and C centres.

Missing SRK in action? August promises plenty of him

Have you been missing King Khan for sometime now? He will be back on the radar soon.

August promises to be a Shah Rukh Khan month of sorts for more than one reason what with his latest Chak De India all set for release and a book on his life on the anvil.

Shah Rukh Khan is no stranger to playing games, we mean the sporty kind, of course. So this time round in his new film Chak De, King Khan is coaching a team of lovely ladies on how to beat the best.

Chak De India, directed by Shimit Amin, follows a coach's efforts to build and motivate a team of women hockey players and is said to be based on the life of Indian team coach Ranjit Negi. But SRK says any resemblance is purely coincidental.

"It's an original story by Jaideep Sahni and Shimit. Lekin Negi sahab ne hamare saath kaam kiya hai, so kaafi saare aspects hai hockey ke jo film me unke baje se hai. (But Negi has worked with us and infused a number of aspects related to hockey.) He feels that the story is like his. It's not based on any one person's life. It could be the story of any sportsman in India at some point or the other," Shah Rukh explains.

The superstar has another reason to celebrate too. A much-hyped book based on his life and times, this time written by film journalist Anupama Chopra, is also ready to hit the stores. And it's aptly called King of Bollywood.

"The book is very intellectual as it is an attempt to traverse filmdom. It's more about the differences and changes in the country from the '90s to 2000 as seen through me. Bahut intellectual book hai. Anu Chopra ne saare teen-chaar chaal unki jindegi ke yahan par lagaye hai. I find it very strange, kiyunki mein itna important nahi hoon (It's a very intellectual book. Anu Chopra has spent three or four years of her life writing this book. I find it very strange because I don't think I am that important a man)," Khan says in a down-to-earth tone.
