i would speak the truth...i would tell her that i thought the book was a lot of crap...and probably we would end up having a discussion on that lousy book!!! she is my friend and will remain so despite disagreements!!!

the prophet by khalil gibran, mister god this is anna by fynn, the little prince by antoine st durpree, all books by george mikes, pg wodehouse (esp the blandings series), james thurber, richard armour, oh and so many more...

have read 3 mills and boon during school days and decided there is nothing worthwhile in it. i cant pick them up even to while away the time...

would you make that four??? i would love to speak to richard armour, george mikes, james thurber and p g wodehouse...but it is not going to be possible cos they have all passed on....their sense of humour is amazing.

i read everywhere, in the car, in the park, in the cafe, in the house, sitting in front of the tv...but the best place is lying down in bed!!!

i hope the literature lovers will not be mad at me but honestly I'd have to go with Moby Dick. Oh God, that was dreadful.

Herman Melville tries to be very avant-garde and interesting. he gives us gigantic passages about how to hunt whales and scientific stuff (which is all dated now) while he leaves the story dangling. I honestly thought that this book was absolute crap!!!

when a school girl, grade 4 or 5 i think, i read a book "a basket of flowers". i dont remember the author but the gist of the story is as follows:

James, a king's gardener, teaches his 15-year-old daughter Mary all the principles of godliness through his flowers. She is falsely accused of stealing, and the penalty is death. Mary remembers her father had taught her: that it is better to die for the truth than to live for a lie, and that the worst pillow to sleep on is the pillow of a guilty conscience!
i cried buckets then and would not part with the book. i remember some years later i re read the book and wept buckets again!!!😕 a book that left an indelible mark in me...

Last time u wished to burry urself underground was when i had an exceptionally tiring day running around, and i sat down late in the night and put my feet up saying 'meri to paon bhaari hai" and saw the shocked expressions in all my colleagues faces. and then one by one they congratulated me...before i found out that i had just announced i was pregnant when what i wanted to say was my feet felt leaden!!!

Last time u swelled ur chest with pride was when i listened and sang along with the everybody else, the national anthem of my country on the 15th august and watched the indian tricolour go up!!!

First time u got embarrassed dont know when cos i have this uncanny knack of putting my foot in everytime i open my mouth
