I'm seeing what the others are recommending... makes me miss those days when all I used to read was Sherlock Holmes, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys... with some Agatha Christie and Alfred Hitchcock thrown in between smiley27

I don't pick up thrillers nowadays because they're hard to put down... and I don't have the luxury of finishing books in one go anymore smiley18

All I can recommend atm are comics or fan-fics smiley36

Lizzie, can you recommend a few good psychological thrillers where the protagonists are serial killers/murderers and their characters are very complex, dark and multi-layered/multi-dimensional. The books are written from their perspectives (first person narrative) and delve deep into their psychology. The authors make the readers understand how their minds work. Their psychology is revealed throughout the novels.

Sorry, I only very recently - in the last year - began reading psychological thrillers and cannot recall any with this description. Most thrillers that I’ve read have the protagonists hunting the killer. I did read one recently called The Butcher by Jennifer Hillier where we get the killer’s PoV as well but not in the depth that you’re looking for.

Okay, I like reading psychological thrillers a lot! It's quite fascinating how the minds of serial killers work very differently from ours. I feel interested to read about their psychology. I really want to write a fanfiction on a character. I'm very curious about his character. Both of his parents are serial killers/murderers in the show. But they're very different from each other. When his father is a calculated serial killer, his mother was an impulsive murderer. So, a few questions came into my mind. Will he be a serial killer like them after growing up? There's a high chance of that because genes influence a person's personality a lot. If he becomes a serial killer or murderer, whose characteristics will dominate his personality? Will he become someone like his father who thinks he kills to protect people? Or will he become someone like his mother who was more self-aware when she was alive? Or will he be a different type of murderer? If I write, I want to make the character complex and dark. But I don't think I've the ability to write psychological thrillers. smiley44 It's very difficult to write psychological thrillers and I never wrote one before. I think I need to read a lot of psychological thrillers. Only then I may come up with something.

There is some carry-over book to book. Not a lot that you'd be lost, but some carry-over that you might miss if you aren't reading in order. You can find the order on Goodreads. My library has all the books in e-book format. I don't know if yours does as well.

I haven't checked if they're all there, but I checked out Book # 1 No Mercy, so I guess I'll start with that!

Have you tried Catharine Cowles for Rom-suspense? She writes small town mostly and they're good, they tend to get formulaic after a while but still - decent reads.

Crime thrillers: I would recommend Jennifer Hillier. I've read The Butcher, Jar of Hearts and Wonderland by her and they were all good. Don't know if you're okay with thrillers that make you queasy though - hers definitely do!

Rock, paper, scissors by Alice Feeney

Kill for me, Kill for you by Steve Cavanaugh (I'll recommend this every time!)

Perfect Strangers by J.T. Geissenger was sooo twisty.

Perfect Strangers is romance na? Is it a romantic thriller like Pen Pal?

For thriller recs read the Jonathan Grave series by John Gilstrap. Damn good series and once you start a book it's hard to put down. I recommended it to Mrina recently as well.

They're very simple and straightforward. Kind of like a Mission Impossible or Top Gun storyline - mostly obvious and you know the villains pretty early on - but it's a page turner because of the action and writing. You can actually see it play out in your head.

What kind of thrillers are these? Detective/murder mysteries?

I'm looking for some domestic thrillers, I don't mind the thrillers. Especially a story which revolves around a couple. I've come to realize I love reading stories where one of the partners is a twisted psychopath.smiley36

Ob I know just the book for you. The Arrangement series by Kiersten Modglin.

I haven’t read Pen Pal but Perfect strangers is definitely a romantic thriller
