I just completed it. Honestly, I don't understand the hype. The lead couple, Ana- Christian have many love scenes, but in the plot department, there is nothing. The plot doesn't happen until the end of books, writing is amateur and the sex scenes are repeated.
To be fair, you can enjoy it as long as you don't overthink or expect anything. Don't expect it to be spectacular because of all the fame. It is just what it was written as. Twilight fanfiction.

I actually hated it. Like u said, repetitive to the point of YAWNING. and I despise the heroine's character.

The hype is because this book set the base for alpha, dominant, tortured, broody, cold-blooded billionaire heroes..I have read Bared to You series by Sylvia Day..Now, this is so far far better than 50 shades, but you can see how many new authors have adopted these kind of heroes in their novels..I love reading them! But, I am not a fan of hardcore BDSM w/ no story..I can take some of it, but there has got to be a story!
If you like such kind of heroes, and a heroine w/ a brain..start off w/ Bared to You series by Sylvia Day..It is hard to beat Gideon Cross, though Rapahel and James Cavendish from other novels come pretty close!

I love reading alpha, sweet, tortured, lonely, arrogant heroes..So, I have read a lot of them in Young Adult Mature novels, as well as Romantic Suspense, Contemporary and Historical Romances..they remain my favorites..I care less about the heroine if the hero is too good to miss out on.

But, yeah 50 Shades of Grey was pathetic..I gave up after 1st half of the 1st book..

If you like such kind of alpha, possessive, sweet, caring, arrogant heroes here is my list on this thread..

Same here. She has no story and personality.

Thanks. I will check it out. This was my first erotica read. I wasn't impressed. The other books should be good.
