Hello everyone ,

Me from bangalore , can you tell me all the books which were converted to movie , do a research for my college project(Doin BMM) .

I know a few like Kite Runner , The Firm , Da Vinci Code , Angels and Demons (yet to release)

Going to take all these books and do a people reseach on what they prefer most , the movie or the book.

Whats your take ? What should have been done earlier , watched the movie or read the book ?

My guess here would be hands down - Read the book

Hi Bindya,

Here's a list of all the books I know that have been made movies on.

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
Secret Life of bees by Cornelia Funke
Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling
Twlight by Stephenie Meyer.

Will let you know more if I remember.

I'd definitely say books are what I prefer much more. With the exception of Harry Potter, I have disliked all other movies and I loved books.

For example, The Kite Runner is one of my most favorite books but I hated the movie as they omitted the most heart touching scenes. Usually the movies are a cruel adaptation of the books. They don't do justice to the books.

Some more books into movies include the classics -
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
Wuthering Heights
To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Some other others are :
The Cronicles of Narnia (The Lion, the Witch and the Wadrobe and Prince Caspian) CW Leiws
Eragon by Christopher Paolini
There are lots more to this list, and I'm with the concensus that say that the books are always better than the movies!

I have always picked up the book , read it and been disappointed in the movie , where few can do justice.
When I read Da vinci code , I had more thrills reading it up to four ,that is just a minute in the movie .
A book wins hands down , though its getting expensive picking up so many books that I want nowdays , left no option to buy those roadside ones....
Nways good luck with your project.

Hey thanx ,
got a few good responses here , also a clear idea , about who's the winner - Book vs DVD
as far as your experience with Da Vinci Code goes , I totally agree, it was a book that kept you on the egde. Movie couldnt do any justice .
Please dont pick up pirated books , instead , join a circulating library , I know one in bangalore , and I think its in mumbai as well , ***EDITED**** , their plans start

dirt cheap @ Rs 139 per month !! Happy reading and thank you for the response.

I dont know if this is relevent but thought I'd throw it in...

Books published after a TV show are god aweful!!

But some other books made into films...
Great Gatsby
Gone With The Wind
Lord Of the Rings
Atonement
The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button
The English Patient
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Actually considering that Movies never really do books justice...the above are pretty good examples of when they do.

Only the lord of the rings outdoing the book for many people...except fans of course...

P.S. I Love You
Bend It Like Beckham
all the other ones I can think of already mentioned
I prefer book even though I absolutely love movies just because I think the book is so much more descriptive and you relate to the character much more
