Well as a reader , I guess I could pick up the difference quite obviously... the first half was definetely 1865ish as you said and then some the later part reminded me of the 1980's , I suddenly felt myself being pushed into a different era and thats possibly the reason, I went on to read the SS another time, to make sure , I wasnt imagining it or it was all in my head!
