Farah Khan is a happy soul these days...and pretty busy too. Juggling her roles as a mother of three little babies and as a judge on another reality show, life's quite full and joyful, says the choreographer cum director. Talking about her role as a 'mommy', a delighted Farah shares, "Motherhood is going good so far and I hope it stays the same for the next 50 years." Ask how husband Shirish is enjoying fatherdom and she laughs, "I really can't make out who is happier – me or my husband. I have not seen Shirish smiling in past three years as much as he has smiled in last three months. He is so fond of the babies, he carries them all the time, talks to them and even the babies love him." And has Farah taken some baby sitting lessons? "I must say, there's been a great help at home and I take a lot of practical advice from friends who have babies, as what to do, how to feed them and when is the right time to do certain things. I keep myself updated." Switching over to her love for small screen, Farah seems happy with what she's doing. Having judged the first season of singing based realty show Indian Idol and dance show Jhalak Dikhlaja , the lady is back with another reality show Joh Jeeta Wahi Superstar on Star Plus. On what tempted her to take-up this show despite the fact that she has much more to look after back home, she affirms, "I found this a really interesting and rare format where the runner ups and finalists of several shows have been given a chance to compete among themselves. Moreover, the show didn't require me to devote much time." Elaborating about the format, she adds, "I don't really know whether it's giving the left-out talent another chance to prove their mettle but one thing is for sure –public does care about it. If audiences have had certain favourites on a particular show and they didn't win, public is interested to see them back in another show." Farah knows some of the contestants from Indian Idol , does this make any difference? "Apart from the Indian Idol contestants, I know a few others like Vineet, Harshit and Debojit. Judging here is all about how good they sing and not about whether I know them or have heard them earlier. Also, I feel that some of the contenders have really improved in their singing and some have gone worse. They are not new comers and this makes judging stricter." Does Farah still seek the X-factor while judging a contender? "It no longer matters at this stage. For superstar race, the only judging criterion has to be good singing because their personalities have already come out and they have undergone grooming and makeover sessions. X-factor matters at a starting platform like Indian Idol where we have contestants from small towns and villages who don't know anything about stage presence." What about the criticism Farah faces when people say it's unfair for her to judge a singing contest since she does not have a musical background. Farah clarifies, "I make people act and I have been associated with music since last 15 years now. The films I have made fortunately had very good music and I do have an ear for good and bad singing." "Moreover, these are seasoned stars in themselves, who have won the titles on respective shows, so we can shout at them. And I am not among those judges (singers and music composers) who shout and scream on contestants, just because they feel a direct threat to their careers. I don't have any such hidden agendas, so I remain honest in my judgement." monika.rawal@indiatimes.co.in |
