It doesn't make sense to me either... but what really doesn't make sense is that Sonam wasn't even nominated in most awards... when her role had more substance to it..

I don't know if Deepika deserved all the debutante awards and best actress nominations, but Sonam should have at least been nominated, she did a great job when your comparing all the new actors!

But you can never take these awards seriously, they are all based in popularity and how well they did at the BO.

^ I agree. It's like that time when Upen Patel beat Siddharth (from RDB) as the best debutant for 36 China Town.

To be fair, Neil Nitin Mukesh did win a critic's best debutant award in Zee Cine. That's pretty fair, considering that critics award is more for the art quotient, less with the popularity.

I did feel a little bad for Sonam, but in my view, Sonam and Deepika were on the same level. For me, either victory wouldn't have made a difference

sonam definitely deserved the best female newcomer award much more deepika. sonam didn't have a meaty role like deepika did but sakina had a lot more shades to her than shantipriya/sandi who only had to fill in the glamour quotient of the film.

neil and ranbir are on the same level with me. however i did feel bad for neil when ranbir walked away with all the awards & accolades but at least he won one critics award while sonam wasn't even given a single award. that's unfair.😕

i thought ranbir desereved it much more..for deepika and sonam they were at same level...well neil getting one critics award that was fair bur poor sonam dint get one... 😭

The only reason i thing deepika got it is she is all over the place attending parties , functions being photographed and trying to gain as much popularity and she is popular , sonam on the other hand is always hidden , she did appear in a few shows and some endoresements but not as much as the OSO team . They promoted there film more and got more publicity .

Annoying isn't it? 😉 Well, all I know is that I loved Sonam in Saawariya and thought she did much better then Deepika! But then again Deepika was in a 'SRK' movie so it was destined to go hit and destined to get Deepika every award possible. It's really annoying.. So I just ignore the awards! :)

Award season(12 award functions) is over and still so much hand wringing..These awards don't mean a thing..Many have attended functions and won,and it stopped at that..

The 'rewards', the debutantes got from their debuts is what matters in the near future..in terms of good work,money, fame and a foothold in the industry..

I must add that this year the winners have done very well for themselves on all accounts..And most will find it hard to argue on that!

So let it rest for now..till next year!
