Hilarious ride with diamonds
Bollywood's latest release One Two Three happens to be director Ashwini Dheer's debut offering at the 'Friday Ticket Window'. The film is all about mistaken identities interspread with diamonds that play a central part in the film. Even though this plot is nothing new to the land of Bolly-flicks, the treatment that's been given to the film is comparatively refreshing, if not new. Bollywood, in the earlier past, has witnessed films on the similar lines (i.e. films where diamonds play an integral role, spiced up with comedy). Bollywood Hungama takes you to a trip down memory lane and refreshes some such flicks
Andaz Apna Apna
Aamir and Salman are two good-for-nothing guys who leave their respective homes with one common motive: to get 'settled' in life by marrying a millionaire's daughter! The story takes a funny roller-coaster dive when they get to know that both of them are planning to dupe the same girl (Raveena). Using their 'creative intelligence', they pave their way into Raveena's house, who is accompanied by Karishma, her '24/7 Secretary-cum-Friend-PA-cum-Attendant-cum-Philosopher-cum-Sc heduler-cum-Manager'! Phew!
Later on, Aamir and Salman, in order to impress the girls, get the better out of each other. The story takes a 360 degree U-turn when they come to know that Paresh Rawal (Raveena's father), who has diamonds worth 30 crores, has an evil twin, who, along with his gang, is after the diamonds! The real chase for the diamonds happens during the climax where all the characters including Crime Master Gogo fight to get a share of the diamonds. One of the most hilarious climaxes, which take on the clichd Bollywood, styled climaxes. In every sense, the dialogues of the film and performances are the assets of the film, and this film places itself as one of the finest ever comic- capers in the Indian cinema.
Bombay to Goa
When a whole bunch of comedy experts like Asrani, Sunil Pal, Raju Shrivastava, Ehsaan Qureshi, Tinu Anand, and Vijay Raaz come together, its not rocket science for anyone to make out that the outcome of it will surely be a laughathon. We are indeed talking about Bombay to Goa, a film that forces you to cling to your seats so that you won't fall off laughing. This film is about a group of (hilarious) passengers who are traveling from Bombay to Goa and their experiences on the way. But the hilarious journey intensifies when a passenger gets the 'booty map' which is gets torn pieces and as per the map, everyone is on a hunt for 'Post Master', their ultimate destination for the hidden treasure! All in all, this film was a 100% laugh-till-you-die kinds!
Apna Sapna Money Money
Apna Sapna Money Money is an out-n-out comedy and has its lead as well as its most characters running behind money and diamonds. The USP of this film also happens to be 'the' funniest sequence of the film, when Riteish Deshmukh disguises himself as a female and seduces Anupam Kher! Comedy intensifies when the gangster's moll (Celina) hides the diamond in a sandal and it gets circulated among all the characters, who are not remotely connected to each other, but come searching for diamonds in the end. The film had everything that is expected of a 100% entertainer, namely, masala, glamour, laugh riot, skin show, jokes and some cool performances. A total paisa-vasool film!
Fool N Final
Fool N Final tumbled at the box office, but still managed to bring a moderate smile on the faces of the audience. The movie is all about diamonds robbed by Chunky Pandey from Mumbai and smuggled to Dubai. Chunky's uncle Gulshan Grover orders him to sell the diamonds to his accomplice, Asrani. Thus the chase for the diamonds begins and you even have Arbaaz Khan and his gang following Chunky to get the diamond from him. One of the hilarious scenes when Ayesha's dog gulps the mobile, and Paresh Rawal and Johny Lever's interaction thereafter is a pleasure to watch. So the director tries to inculcate all the ingredients of a masala film but couldn't really pull it off except in some sequences. Though having glittering diamonds in it, the film couldn't glow like diamonds at the Box-Office.
Awara Paagal Dewaana
Awara Paagal Dewaana is a blend of thriller and comedy made by Vikram Bhatt. Mafia don (Om Puri) leaves behind a 'will' that's has diamonds worth millions. This leads to a bad blood between his son-in-law Akshay Kumar, and Rahul Dev, the Don's son. The entire story revolves around the plot of the diamonds that's been kept in a U.S. bank locker. In order to lay his hands on the entire booty, the criminal minded Rahul falsely implicates Akshay in a murder case. Things get funnier with the entry of Aftab, Amrita Arora, Paresh Rawal, Yeda Anna (Suneil Shetty) and Johnny Lever! Overall it's a time pass movie, totally Tadka Maar Ke!
