AMISHA Patel features in hit filmmaker Kunal Kohlis upcoming megaproject, but that isnt necessarily good news for the struggling actress. The yet- to- be named Yash Raj Films ( YRF) production has been making news as a Saif Ali Khan- Rani Mukerji starrer and Amishas name has been totally blacked out from the films promotion. The film is slated for release on June 27. When we checked the films official overview on the YRF website on Tuesday, the film is introduced thus: " Starring Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji, four kids with attitude, God and a unique storyline. Romance, comedy, drama, pathos, fantasy and more — all that you ever wanted in the darkness of a movie theatre is there in the story of this film." There is no mention whatsoever of Amisha, who has said she is banking on this project to revive her sagging career. Kohli, after all, has directed superhits like Fanaa and Hum Tum in the past. The industry is in a mood to give the royal snub to the petite actress, it seems. Only a few months ago, Amisha was totally ignored during the promotional campaign of Priyadarshans Akshay Kumar- starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa. At that time, Akshay, Vidya Balan and Shiney Ahuja hogged the limelight. The posters of the film also gave Amisha a miss even though she was Akshays heroine, according to the script. Not surprisingly, Amisha is upset with this latest development concerning Kohlis film. " She is surely not happy but she is confident that everything will be sorted out," says a source. Kohli has been very tight- lipped about Amishas character in his film. " If Amishas name is not there in the list, it must have been an error. We will look into the matter," he told M AIL T ODAY . After the Bhool Bhulaiyaa incident, Amisha was said to be extremely upset with director Priyadarshan and the producers T. Series for sidelining her. Reportedly, at that time, she had even called up the filmmaker to express her displeasure over not being featured on the films posters. As the music CD covers also blacked her out, Amisha decided not to promote the film. Apart from Bhool Bhulaiyaa, where her role was said to be cut, Amisha doesnt have too many hits to flaunt in her seven- year career. Her only solo hits so far have been her debut film, Kaho Naa Pyar Hai in 2000 ( which also saw co- star Hrithik Roshans debut) and Gadar – Ek Prem Katha with Sunny Deol in 2001. Amisha has signed two films — Do Lucky opposite Govinda and Chatur Singh Two Star opposite Sanjay Dutt. But in an industry that worships only success, her failure to churn out hits could be the main reason why filmmakers no longer consider her name important enough to sell their productions. " Every producer wants to focus on the current hot properties to create the right buzz. And Amisha hasnt given any successful film for a long time," says a trade expert.
