Bipasha Basu has no doubt received several compliments about how beautiful she is. Bips is proud to be known as a hot and sexy lady and she is one of the first actresses with a dusky complexion to be accepted by the audiences. However it seems like this very beautiful feature of Bipasha's sultry image and dusky complexion recently made her lose out on a jewellery endorsement brand. Bipasha was supposedly replaced with the more 'homely and fair skinned' Karisma Kapoor. According to sources, a jewellery brand was looking for a high profile actress to endorse their jewellery line. Through an intervening company Percept, Bipasha was selected as the brand ambassador who would endorse the jewellery line. However the jewellery brand felt otherwise, they felt Bipasha has a sultry image which did not represent their target of the 'family woman'. They also felt that her dusky complexion would not suit their beautiful and traditional jewellery line. Hence they decided to drop Bipasha and replace her with Karisma Kapoor. Khemchand Bhagnani, who is a part of the jewellery brand company, confirmed they had signed on Lolo (Karisma), he said "Lolo has been lucky for our family and we have a very good family equation with her. Moreover she is extremely professional and focussed." However Bhagnani refused to comment on the issue of Bipasha being replaced. No doubt Bipasha is extremely hurt that she has been dropped from endorsing a product due to her sultry image and dusky complexion. It is indeed a shame that at a time when the film and glamour world is said to be advancing, it still adheres to such baseless stereotypes.
A person from the intervening company which had selected Bipasha for the endorsement confirmed that Bips had been dropped, saying "Yes Bipasha was dropped at the last minute in favour of Karisma. The company felt that Basu did not have a family image, she has a very sexy mage and if she shot for our jewellery commercial, the families may not accept that." The ad campaign for the jewellery endorsement has already been shot with Karisma Kapoor and the makers seem to be happy with it now.
Meanwhile Bipasha will once again be seen in a sexy avatar in Abbas- Mustan's Race. She is also doing an art film called Pankh. Bipasha has also been offered a role in an all boys action flick by Sanjay Gupta called Acid Factory. However Bips is not very happy with the role offered to her in the film, despite the fact the she will be the only female in the film. About the role offered to her in Acid Factory, Bips said "I just seem to be the token glamour quotient. I've asked Sanjay Gupta to flesh out my role and make me part of the action; make me one of the boys.I'm looking forward to working in Acid Factory but only if my role is modified."
