| This was an evening dedicated to seamen. Celebrating living life on the high seas was the order of the night, at this awards function for seafarers.
But it wasn't just about talks and accolades, it was also about high (sea) fashion, as models Aditi Gowitrikar, Shawar Ali and Freddy Daruwalla walked the ramp in... you guessed it... chic sailing gear.
As if that wasn't entertainment enough, comperes Pooja Bedi and Viraf Patel then introduced an act by Divya Palat and her creative team and a sizzling performance by Kim Sharma. Captain Nangia played the perfect host.
But the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly when Aishwarya Rai Bachchan awarded the Lifetime Achievement award for his contribution to the maritime industry to her father Krishnaraj Rai, and it was an emotional moment indeed as the proud daughter hugged her father on stage.
And it wasn't just Ash and her dad that were present, the entire Rai family was there right from mother Vrinda, who also spoke proudly about her husband (which made Ash all misty-eyed) to brother Aditya Rai and his wife Shrima. Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan sent their good wishes through SMS, which was conveyed by Ash to her father.
The Paul brothers and their wives were also present, and a conversation between them and Ash revealed that Delnaazz Paul and Aishwarya Rai had been classmates! Life sure does come a full circle! |
