It's their second film with the director
Farhan Akhtar began scripting Voice From The Sky right after Dil Chahta Hai. He admits, "It's been with me from 2002-2003."
Originally, Irrfan Khan was supposed to play the lead, "But Saif seemed a more natural choice," says Akhtar, and he has now signed Priyanka Chopra to be the leading lady of his fourth directorial venture.
'Cast'ing his net
Farhan is very kicked about working with Priyanka Chopra. "She's hassle-free, and still has a lot of untapped potential. Her role in Voice From The Sky is very different from what she has done so far. It's primarily the story of a little boy. Priyanka and Saif are the two people who come into his life. I'm really looking forward to working with Priyanka after Don and with Saif after Dil Chahta Hai."
Farhan needs to find his child protagonist very soon. "Now that I have Saif and Priyanka in place, I can start looking for the boy. It would've been terrible to find him and not be able to make the film."
Farhan feels Saif-Priyanka make a hugely commercially viable pair. "Of course, they make a difference. We certainly get more eyeballs." Voice From The Sky will have both English and Hindi dialogues. "It won't be in Hinglish. Certain people will speak only in English. Others will speak in Hindi."
Voice From The Sky will have no songs.
