Sonam Kapoor says no to Hrithik's 'Kites'; a role that Deepika was dying to clinch.

She is just one movie old, but Sonam sure reflects the attitude of a star as she has turned down one the biggest star in the business. Sonam was offered a role by Anurag Basu for his next tentatively titled 'Kites', but the young actress refused as the role demanded some bold love scenes.

Hrithik and Rakesh Roshan are both quite fond of Sonam and they sure tired to convince the actress to accept the offer, but the Kapoor girl simply rejected as the bold modern character in the movie would not go well with her girl-next-door image which has sure helped her build a huge fan base.

Deepika Padukone was lobbying hard to be a part of the movie, but Roshans did not sign her as she lacked the passion while dancing. Penelope Cruz was next on the list, but apparently she looks older to Hrithik.

After shopping for an actress for weeks in LA, Rakesh Roshan and Anurag have settled for the Japanese-Mexican beauty Barbara Mori. Deepika is disheartened as she was hopeful of bagging the role, but we are glad that at least for once Sonam managed to cut Deepika's 'Kite' in style.

Lolz Deepika was trying hard to get this role??? Ummm Rakesh roshan plz dont stoop so low for the publicity of ur film by misusing newcomers name 😆 the project is so much in news but the production hasnt even started...

Even deepika denied doing this project! here is the article..

Deepika padukone is cahing on the success of Om Shanti Om and currently has the liberty to choose roles. She has in fact turned down an offer from director Anurag Basu as the role involved some skin show. It is believed that the actress is adamant on not exposing in her movies and thus has turned down this offer from the director of Life In A Metro.

This would have been an golden opportunity for Deepika as she would have starred opposite Hrithik Roshan in the movie.

Blame media, not Roshans. After all, media writes anything, isn't it ?😆...And Rakesh Roshan has bigger names to take advantage of.

I will say Deepika or Sonam wud have been a lot more better than kangana, dunno why but somehow i dont like the actress
But Barbara Mori is not a bad choice. Im just waiting for the SALSA which is very much in news these days. 😃

Exactly. He is a reputed Film maker and so far has never been in any controversy. The media is to be blamed for the GOLMAAL😆

I was looking forward to watching Hrithik-Sona chem. on screen, however she is a smart and intelligent girl as Anil K. says. Most definitely must have taken the right decision, with a mind of her own and a clean intention, she is definitely..gonna be the next big thing 😃 We love you Sona!

Also..dancerr! Shes a fab dancer even though she is soo tall, she can carry it off with much grace and dignity, which is quite a rare quality, for being 5'9.5 (i wish i was that tall! sigh) ..where dancing does look a bit awkward..she makes it look just perfect!

One thing is for sure..be it the Bachan boy, or the Roshans..they're all loving this fresh, new talent..along with us, and all credit goes to her simple,caring, loving and honest nature- its very nice to see stars whom we can relate to, and love so much not just because of their looks and talent..but also for the persn that they are.

Sonam is plyaing fool while deepika is turning to the top and she turning down!!

but i think this was a sign that she don't want to be compared with Deepika as she begged the role!

good for u Sona!! i trust her judgement, she's going to have an awsome career even if it means turning down a few big offers .That was really brave of her and shows clearly that she's a sensible actress who wont do movies just for the sake of working with big stars
