Suchitra sick again - An article

Suchitra Sen, legendary Bengali screen actress of yesteryear, has been admitted to a nursing home in Kolkata after she complained of fever and related ailments. The actress was admitted to Belle Vue nursing home late night on Tuesday, according to the nursing home's administrator, Dr. P. Tandon. As Sen has not come out of her private world ever since she quit acting decades back and guards her privacy zealously, the nursing home kept the news of her illness and admission a secret. But, this is the second time she has been admitted to a nursing home within six months. Hence, it's a matter of great concern for her family and fans.

This is to recall that Suchitra Sen has been the most beautiful and talented actress of her time. Suchitra wowed audiences with performances in films like 'Bambai Ka Babu', 'Mamta' and 'Aandhi', and also won the first international award for an Indian actress and, more recently, the prestigious Padmashree award (the highest award the Indian government bestows on artistes). Her 'Devdas opposite Hindi matinee idol Dilip Kumar took her to the peak of her popularity among Indian cinemagoers. Moon Moon could not quite measure up. Suchitra has passed on her qualities to her daughter Moon Moon Sen, and her granddaughters - Riya and Raima Sen.
