Here's an actor who is time and again ignored by the media and the awards. He is easily the better actor than any of the ones who won at the mostly rigged award shows. Yes he won a folmfare for best supporting actor but even then he is less credit than he deserves. I am happy that he is getting recognized overseas and is rubbing shoulders with top hollywood actors and is going to star opposite Natalie Portman which none of our Bollywood (some)overhyped stars can dream of........
After Namesake, Mira casts Irrfan again
Tuesday Feb 26 3:13 PM
Kosher Vegetarian is the name of Mira Nair's love story between a Gujarati man and a Jewish girl. After playing the Bengali gentleman to perfection in The Namesake, Irrfan Khan now takes on the role of the Gujarati.
According to Irrfan, he will be playing a strictly-vegetarian Gujarati in the film, which unlike The Namesake is not the story of a family but of a man and a woman. Natalie Portman is cast opposite Irrfan as the Jewish woman. He finds the project exciting because it's Mira's film. He professes to love her spirit and is sure that together they will be doing something special again. Incidentally, the actor lost out on the Best Supporting Actor award at the Spirit awards held over the weekend. The actor has no regrets about not winning the award. He says that The Namesake is a winner. At the event, Irrfan spent a lot of time with Tamara Jenkins, the much-applauded director of the film The Savages. She seemed to be an admirer of his work He also rubbed shoulders with the likes of Dustin Hoffman, Forest Whitaker, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
