Interview : Kajol going gaga over 'U Me Aur Hum'! |
Excerpts from an Interview: U Me Aur Hum is Ajay Devgan's debut directorial attempt. How was it working with him as a director? It was truly fabulous. I'm totally thrilled to be a part of Ajay's debut venture. Personally, I feel he is one of the best directors I've ever come across. Totally focused and professional, he is exactly aware of the nitty-gritty's of a director. It was truly a special experience that will hang on for long. Did you assist Ajay with any special guidelines while on the sets? Also were there frequent discussions on the film off sets? Not really. You see everything, right from the idea, to the screenplay to shooting, was done cooperatively. You have to give the credit to our excellent team of executive producer, the editors, scriptwriters and everyone else who contributed immensely in making this film a reality. Everyday, Ajay and I would discuss the film at length and this helped us to come up with a new idea each time.
This is also your debut production venture. So like Ajay do you plan to take up direction at any point? Was Ajay a taskmaster on the sets? I'm more comfortable being an actress and would love to continue it that way. I think I've a lot to achieve as an actress. Well, Ajay was a bit strict. But it would be unfair to call him a taskmaster. His style of functioning is very different. He is perfectly clear of his priorities and bears no doubt about his skills. On the sets, he made it sure that everybody knew who's who. Also me being the producer, Ajay didn't get to bully me nor he did intend to do that. He is one great technician and he has proven it with this film. There is a horde of playback talents on the board. Then why did you opt for Vishal Bharadwaj to croon out the title track? I suppose it's extremely necessary to invent and re-invent your resources. Vishal Bharadwaj is not only a great musician but also an awesome singer. And that is why we approached him for the title song. The title track also happens to be my much-loved number. All the songs in the album are fresh and lovely. In fact, its one hodge-podge of soft melodies, rocking dance numbers, fun-filled ones and more.
Well, I did pass on a casual nod to the offer but I'm yet to read the script. Once I go through it, only then I'd be able to give out my verdict. If I do not like the script, I may back out. What do you have to say about this sudden comeback spree in Bollywood? I don't think that this is an out of the blue trend. Even actresses like Saira Banu, Jaya Bachchan and more made a comeback. It's just that now times have changed. People are willing to experiment and that has opened a lot of avenues for us. I'm glad to be a part of films today since it has role that perfectly suits my age. Today you don't have to compromise with your roles. It's a great change. |
